Her Exit 168

Listen to this chapter:

Rachel plunged a hand into her pocket, only to find it empty. โ€œWhereโ€™s my phone?โ€ she exclaimed.

Tyler looked at her with feigned confusion. โ€œYeah, whereโ€™s your phone?โ€

From Tylerโ€™s tone, Rachel knew that he was fooling her once more. She looked awkwardly at him, feeling that he was playing her like a clown.

Baffled by a riotous mix of chagrin and hilarity, she asked, โ€œMr. Hunt, quit joking around with me at a time like this. Did you find my phone somewhere?โ€

Tyler decided to call it quits and pulled out a white phone from his pocket, flinging it at her.

Rachel caught it, not missing a beat. She looked down and confirmed that it was indeed her phone.

โ€œWhere did you find it?โ€

Tyler stuck both hands in his pockets and looked behind Rachel, who turned around and looked in the direction of his gaze. Her gaze landed on Tammy.

She suddenly recalled how she bumped into Tammy after getting changed with Cecilia just now. She thought she had heard something, but she was so busy apologizing to Tammy that she didnโ€™t pay it much attention. She even took a quick check of the floor, but didnโ€™t see anything.

Rachel checked her phone, worried that someone might have tried unlocking it. Her passcode was simple: six eights. She didnโ€™t see anything strange. However, when she launched her messenger app, she saw a text sent to Tyler, which confused her greatly. When did she text Tyler?

[Mr. Hunt, please come to the forest. I have something to tell you.]

Rachel looked up, the look in her eyes quivering as she clarified, โ€œI never texted you this.โ€

โ€œI know. How could you possibly text something like that? You always just call me,โ€ Tyler said with certainty.

Rachel was rather surprised to hear how well Tyler knew her. Indeed, she wasnโ€™t someone to beat around the bush and speak in such a roundabout manner.

It was, however, something that Tammy might do, given her character. She subconsciously glanced at Tammy.

โ€œYou meanโ€ฆ Tammy picked up my phone and texted you? What did she tell you, then?โ€

Tyler pulled out a cigarette from his pocket, tilted his head down, and put it to his lips. He cast Rachel a sideways glance, deliberately keeping her in suspense.

โ€œDo you want to know what she said to me?โ€

Rachel pursed her lips. โ€œMr. Hunt, donโ€™t bother trying to keep me in suspense. The way Tammy looked at you when we were playing that game and during lunch was certainly not pure. What else could she say to you, aside from confessing her feelings?โ€

Tyler scoffed. โ€œThatโ€™s rather observant of you. The cheek of you to claim that you donโ€™t have designs on me."

Rachel couldnโ€™t stop herself from rolling her eyes. โ€œAnyone with eyes can tell. Itโ€™s very obvious with young ladies.โ€

Chapter 168

When a woman likes a man, even the air around them feels different. Itโ€™s a very subtle feeling.

It didnโ€™t take Rachel much to conclude, โ€œYou probably rejected her straight away and made her cry.โ€

Tyler looked up, his jawline sharp, his eyes deep and dark, like a black hole sucking everything in. โ€œOr do you think itโ€™s a better idea to give her false hope?โ€

Rachel didnโ€™t approve of the way Tammy went about confessing her feelings to Tyler, but she could understand Tammy. One in love would find all sorts of ways to get close to his or her object of affection. Tammy was probably worried that she might get rejected if she texted him using her own number.

โ€œStill, you should at least break it to her nicely. For all you know, she has never been in a relationship before. Isnโ€™t rejecting her so cruelly dashing all her hopes of romance? You might even make her no longer want to pursue a relationship in the future,โ€ Rachel lectured.
