Chapter 201

โ€œYeah, what a shame. I thought heโ€™d go for someone mature like you. Never thought heโ€™d like the plain and bland type.โ€

Rachel instinctively looked down at herself. โ€˜Plain and bland?โ€™ She didnโ€™t think she looked that bad. They had to be exaggerating.

โ€œHey, how long are you planning to sit there? My legs are going numb,โ€ Tyler said softly by her ear.

Rachel quickly got off his lap. Somehow, it felt like Tyler was mocking her.

โ€œIโ€™m not even that heavy.โ€

She was slightly over one hundred and seventy pounds. That was hardly heavy.

โ€œOh, really?โ€ Tylerโ€™s tone was nonchalant as his eyes slowly scanned her body like he was inspecting her.

Rachel pouted and didnโ€™t feel like talking to him anymore. Ever since he had left her to fend for herself at the villa, she had decided to keep her distance. This drink was just to repay a favor and nothing more.

She lowered her head and took a sip of her drink.

It was sweet and didnโ€™t have the usual harsh burn of alcohol. Her brows relaxed. This was actually pretty good. She ended up taking a few more sips.

Arms crossed and leaning against the couch, Tyler eyed her. โ€œWhatโ€™s this? You said youโ€™d drink with me, but youโ€™re just drinking alone now.โ€

Rachel hesitated for a second. She then turned and gently clinked her glass against his.

Tyler chuckled and tipped his glass back. He finished it in one gulp. He picked up the bottle and refilled both their glasses.

โ€œAre you not worried? If William sees you here, or if his family finds out, theyโ€™ll come after you.โ€

Rachelโ€™s brows furrowed slightly. โ€œYou sound like you know the Lewis family pretty well.โ€

โ€œI had some dealings with them in the past,โ€ Tyler replied casually.

Rachel recalled seeing a car that had looked like Tylerโ€™s when she left the Lewis family estate earlier.

It had looked similar to the one he was driving now. But she hadnโ€™t gotten a good look, so she wasnโ€™t sure.

She tested the waters. โ€œMr. Hunt, did you happen to drop by the Lewis family estate today?โ€

โ€œNope,โ€ he answered without even a pause.

Rachel didnโ€™t press further.

Given how bad things were between Tyler and the Lewis family, it didnโ€™t make much sense for him to go there.

Tyler slowly turned his glass. The golden liquid swirled along the sides.

โ€œThe Oasis project is launching tomorrow. I heard you already resigned from Lewis Enterprise.โ€

Rachel didnโ€™t see any reason to hide it. โ€œYeah, I quit.โ€

Tyler raised a brow. โ€œSo whatโ€™s next? Are you going to stay home and be Williamโ€™s full-time wife?โ€

Rachel smiled sarcastically. โ€œMaybe.โ€

Something flickered in Tylerโ€™s eyes. โ€œYou really are loyal, huh?โ€

Rachel chuckled. โ€œAfter seven years, itโ€™s not so easy to just walk away.โ€

Tyler smirked sarcastically. โ€œLoyal, sure. I just wonder, was that kiss earlier part of all that deep loyalty too?โ€

Rachel froze mid-drink.

He really knew how to stab someone where it hurt. She forced a nonchalant, even playful expression.

โ€œWhatโ€™s that got to do with anything? Loveโ€™s something you carry in your heart, right? And besides, it wasnโ€™t like I volunteered. You asked me to help. I was forced.โ€ She emphasized those last words deliberately.

Tyler scoffed. โ€œOh? Then let me make it up to you. How about you kiss me back?โ€
