Listen to this chapter:

Tylerโ€™s eyes darkened. He looked like the devil. โ€œYou should know I donโ€™t like wasting words. Go back to the office and submit your resignation.โ€

Timโ€™s eyes widened in panic. โ€œMr. Hunt, canโ€™t you give me just one more chance? I really had no choice. My child has leukemia. Heโ€™s only three years old. I canโ€™t just give up on him. The medical bills are overwhelming, and I canโ€™t afford them anymore. Please, Iโ€™ve worked for you for so many years. Just this once, Iโ€™m begging you.โ€

Tylerโ€™s tone remained resolute. โ€œIf youโ€™ve been with me that long, you should know I never change my mind once Iโ€™ve made a decision.โ€

Rachel didnโ€™t feel it was her place to interfere with how Tyler handled his own company affairs. From her perspective, she mightโ€™ve taken Timโ€™s situation into consideration, but Tyler clearly wasnโ€™t someone who showed mercy easily.

Tim looked completely crushed. It was as if his whole world had collapsed.

โ€œMr. Hunt, I swear I didnโ€™t mean to do it. I was desperate. What else could I do? Should I just let my kid die? If there was any other way, I wouldnโ€™t have done this.โ€

Tyler turned his face away. He didnโ€™t even want to hear another word. โ€œOnce Iโ€™ve gotten to the bottom of this, Iโ€™ll come back and deal with you. I wonโ€™t bother tallying up how many kickbacks youโ€™ve taken over the years. All you need to do now is resign.โ€

The weight of Tylerโ€™s words was suffocating. Even Rachel could feel that Tim had no hope left. There was no point in him staying any longer.

She turned to him and said, โ€œIf you ask me, you should just leave. When you chose to do this, you shouldโ€™ve known it would catch up with you sooner or later.โ€

Timโ€™s eyes filled with tears. He wiped at them clumsily. โ€œMs. Lloyd, if I had any other choice, I wouldnโ€™t have done it.โ€

โ€œIf you made that choice, then you have to accept the consequences. Youโ€™ve worked with Mr. Hunt long enough to know exactly what kind of man he is.โ€

Rachel was worried that if the assistant kept begging like this, it would only anger Tyler further instead of softening his resolve. Tim sighed heavily. โ€œI understand.โ€

Once he was gone, Tyler tugged at the shirt he was wearing with a look of disgust.

โ€œNo wonder Iโ€™ve been feeling itchy lately. That guy must have a death wish. How dare he shortchange me on my personal items."

He retrieved his phone and immediately called Yale, his chief aide. Tim was just responsible for day-to-day affairs. Yale usually managed everything else but had been tied up with other work recently and hadnโ€™t been around.

โ€œMr. Hunt, what can I do for you?โ€ Yale asked respectfully.

โ€œLook into the receipts for my personal expenses like clothes and daily items. Tim has been skimming from me. Also, find out if his kid really is sick.โ€

โ€œYes, sir.โ€

โ€œHire a new personal assistant, and get someone to send over a proper change of clothes.โ€

โ€œYes, sir.โ€

After issuing his orders, Tyler hung up the phone.

Chapter 208

Rachel glanced at the shirt Tyler was wearing. โ€œActually, that shirtโ€™s not bad. Sure, itโ€™s not on par with your usual ones, but at least itโ€™s made of real cotton.โ€

Tyler frowned and shot her a sidelong glance. โ€œYou think Iโ€™m someone who settles for mediocrity?โ€

โ€œWell, this is an unusual situation. Your assistantโ€™s already busy, and now you want him to send you a whole new outfitโ€ฆโ€ Rachel trailed off mid-sentence, realizing she mightโ€™ve said too much.
