Since Rachelโs mother was extremely strict with her, most of her time had been spent studying. She had only occasionally heard her mother mention someone like Tyler.
When Tyler heard her words, he looked at her with surprise. The man who was always calm and unreadable actually showed a flicker of emotion in his eyes for once.
โDo you know how to make meatballs?โ
Plenty of people knew how to make meatballs, but no one had ever managed to recreate the flavor of Rachelโs motherโs version. Her meatballs were the best he had ever tasted in his life.
The moment Rachel saw Tylerโs reaction, she knew she had made the right gamble.
She had never made any meatballs for William because he hated them. She didnโt know if she could recreate her motherโs flavor, but that didnโt stop her. With full confidence, she nodded.
โI do.โ
Tyler immediately said, โLetโs go.โ
Rachel hadnโt expected him to agree so quickly.
โDid he just say yes?โ
But then came another issue. She pointed toward the street below.
โThere are still so many reporters outside. How are we supposed to get out?โ
Tyler thought for a moment. He then said to the receptionist, โFind Yale. Tell him to put on my suit and a hat. Just make sure no one gets a clear look at his face.โ
The receptionist immediately understood Tylerโs plan. Yale would be a decoy. โIโll get on it right away.โ
Rachel and Tyler stood together by the floor-to-ceiling windows and watched Yale, now dressed in a suit, walk confidently out the front door of the company.
In an instant, the reporters swarmed toward him like a pack of starving wolves.
Tyler tilted his head toward Rachel and jerked his chin. โLetโs go.โ
Rachel glanced down at Yale below and shivered before following Tyler. โPoor Yale. Those reporters are going to eat him alive.โ
Tyler pressed the elevator call button and glanced sideways at her. โWant to take his place?โ
Rachel quickly waved her hands. โNo thanks.โ
If she and Tyler went down together right now, she didnโt even want to imagine the scene that would unfold. Theyโd be completely surrounded. She was sure the reporters would stop at nothing to catch them together.
The elevator doors opened. Tyler stepped in first. As soon as the doors closed, the employees outside immediately huddled together and started whispering.
โOh my god, thatโs wild. Whatโs going on between Mr. Hunt and Ms. Lloyd?โ
โHow would I know?โ
โCould the rumors be true? Are Mr. Hunt and Ms. Lloyd actually seeing each other?โ
โShh! Donโt say that. Just hearing it makes me nervous. Isnโt Ms. Lloyd still married?โ
โWho knows? Maybe itโs just gossip. Itโs not like Mr. Hunt hasnโt had women try to latch onto him before.โ
โExactly. Remember those women who tried to get headlines with Mr. Hunt? Their stories didnโt even last a day before getting taken down.โ
โSo this is basically the first time a woman has made it into a real scandal with Mr. Hunt.โ
โUgh, Iโm so jealous. If I could ever be photographed in the same room as Mr. Hunt, I could die happy.โ
Inside the elevator, Rachel stared at the floor numbers dropping and suddenly remembered โ she still hadnโt called Cecilia.
If William asked her about it later and she didnโt have her story straight, it would blow up fast.
As soon as the elevator door opened, she reached for her phone to call Cecilia, but Williamโs name suddenly appeared on the screen.
Rachelโs heart skipped a beat.
