Chapter 304

โ€œDonโ€™t worry. Rachel will definitely wake up,โ€ William murmured as he stared at Rachel lying in the bed. An oxygen mask covered her face.

Sasha and Jim packed up before leaving the ward.

Once they exited through the back door of the hospital, Jim let out a long sigh.

โ€œWhen you get the chance, call Yvette and tell her to head home,โ€ he said. โ€œAnd make sure she keeps her mouth shut. Whatever happens, she canโ€™t breathe a word of this to Thomas.โ€

โ€œGot it,โ€ Sasha nodded, then hesitated. โ€œBut Jim, earlier, why did you say that in front of William? That if Rachel really goes into a coma, and the Lewis family doesnโ€™t want to take care of her, weโ€™d take her back?โ€

Jim turned to her with a puzzled look. โ€œWhat are you trying to say? Donโ€™t tell me youโ€™d rather leave Rachel out there with no one to care for her?โ€

Sasha froze for a second, realizing her words had been too obvious. She quickly tried to backtrack.

โ€œNo, Jim, you misunderstood me. Thatโ€™s not what I meant. I just think Rachel offered her youth to William. She married into the Lewis family. Sheโ€™s their daughter-in-law. Why should they get to walk away?โ€

Jim wasnโ€™t one to force things. โ€œYou saw for yourself how that mother-in-law of hers treats her. If Rachel really ends up like that, do you honestly think sheโ€™d let someone in a permanent coma stay in their house?โ€

โ€œBut Thomas wonโ€™t agree with this either. Rachelโ€™s adopted, after all. If she ends up in a coma and we bring her back to the Lloyd family, what will people say? Can you win an argument against Thomas?โ€ Sasha asked.

Sashaโ€™s words made Jim pause in thought.

He waved his hand in frustration. โ€œForget it. Weโ€™ll cross that bridge when we get there. Rachel might wake up tonight for all we know. Melanie must be up there watching over her.โ€

Once in the car, Sasha sent a message to Yvette.

[Rachelโ€™s alone with William right now. Do whatever it takes to get him out of that ward.]

Yvette still seemed hesitant. After all, this wasnโ€™t just a dirty trick. They were gambling with Rachelโ€™s life.

[Canโ€™t we just wait a little longer? What if she ends up in a coma on her own? Then we donโ€™t have to do anything.]

Seeing that message nearly made Sasha curse aloud. No wonder Tyler didnโ€™t want her. She was such a useless coward.

Sasha quickly replied while Jim had his eyes closed for a nap.

[Fine, then wait. And when she wakes up and marries Tyler instead, you can have whateverโ€™s left. Your choice.]

After sending the message, Sasha immediately cleared her chat history.

This was the perfect chance to get rid of Rachel, and Yvette didnโ€™t even have the guts to act.

Sasha had originally thought maybe Rachel being part of the Lewis family could help her son in the future, but thinking about the way Rachel had treated her? Forget it.

Rachel was a pawn she couldnโ€™t use and was better off discarded.

Inside the ward, William sat by Rachelโ€™s bedside, gently holding her hand in his. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to the back of her hand.

โ€œRachel, please wake up. If you donโ€™t, Iโ€™ll be the one the Lloyd family blames. Iโ€™ll be the enemy of all of Yurelia City,โ€ he said exhaustedly. โ€œYou love me the most, donโ€™t you? You wonโ€™t just sit here and watch me fall like this, right?

โ€œIโ€™m not as terrible as the internet says I am, am I? Itโ€™s just that lately Iโ€™ve been distracted. Maybe Iโ€™ve neglected you, but I promise, once you wake up, Iโ€™ll make it up to you. Whatever you want, Iโ€™ll give it to you. Just please come back to me.โ€

William didnโ€™t notice it, but the fingers of Rachelโ€™s right hand moved a little.
