Chapter 312

Everyone was stunned by Williamโ€™s words, save for Tyler.

โ€œWilliam Lewis, youโ€™re a bastard through and through. The best thing those netizens have done was to cyberbully you,โ€ Jim said, not quite understanding Tyler's words. โ€œTyler, what do you mean by that?โ€

โ€œThe Lewis family is just worried that things will blow up with the police involved, thereby affecting their reputation and the company. Public opinion of him is quite negative at this point. If netizens found out that he couldnโ€™t keep his eye on an unconscious person and allowed her to simply vanish into thin air, theyโ€™re bound to tear into him like mad dogs.โ€

Tylerโ€™s succinct summary of the situation made Williamโ€™s face darken with displeasure, his jawline tense.

Realization dawned upon Jim as he fixed his gaze on William. He said in disbelief, โ€œWilliam, is that really the case? What were you thinkingโ€ฆโ€

โ€œDad, itโ€™s not like that. Hear me out!โ€ William tried to explain.

โ€œRachel is your wife, and sheโ€™s been with you for seven years. If she hadnโ€™t blocked the attack when someone smashed a chair on you, youโ€™d be the one deaf instead of my daughter! Online reports rave about you, and Iโ€™ve always thought that Rachel was leading a good life with you. Who knewโ€ฆ You turned out to be such a selfish person in reality! Youโ€™ve truly disappointed me!โ€ Jim roared.

Cassandra spoke up for William, her shrill voice ringing in the entire room and across the corridor outside.

โ€œJim Lloyd! How could you blame my son for your daughterโ€™s disappearance? He wasnโ€™t the one who kidnapped her! My son loved her with all his heart and even gave her an amazing wedding gown, which she turned around and sold!

โ€œMy son didnโ€™t even blame her for doing that. Our family wasnโ€™t keen on having William marry Rachel in the first place. If it werenโ€™t for William, who kept pleading with us and going on a hunger strike in protest, do you really think a lowly family like yours is fit to be our in-laws?โ€

Jim clutched his chest, his entire body shaking. โ€œYouโ€ฆ It wasnโ€™t my daughter who insisted on marrying into your family. It was your son who insisted on it!โ€

โ€œOnly because your daughter seduced my son!โ€ Cassandra snapped back; she refused to back down.

โ€œMom! Is this the time to be fighting like this?โ€ William roared. โ€œForget it! Go back home right now.โ€

Cassandra shook her head. โ€œHow could I? They might bully you once I leave!โ€

Fire was burning in Williamโ€™s eyes, and the emotions suppressed in his voice betrayed his fury within. โ€œI said, go back home right now! Youโ€™re not needed around here!โ€

Cassandra realized that William was truly furious and swallowed the words in her mouth.

William didnโ€™t want to give Cassandra any chance to act up, so he told Samantha, โ€œHead home with my mom.โ€

Samantha was worried about leaving William here alone. โ€œWilliam, are you sure youโ€™ll be fine alone here?โ€

In addition to the Lloyds, Tyler was there, too. He was a tough nut to crack. William feared him, to boot. There was no way William could pit himself against Tyler.

Whatโ€™s more, William was largely responsible for Rachelโ€™s disappearance while she was injured. He was certainly at a disadvantage.

Samantha took a deep breath and made up her mind.

โ€œIโ€™ll stay right here. Iโ€™m worried about Rachel disappearing without a trace, too. Iโ€™ll send Mrs. Lewis to the door and come back after she gets in the car.โ€
