Chapter 328
Just then, Yvette came back with a pen. Sasha took it and pulled out the will she had prepared long ago.
โJim, the secretary said that thereโs a document here that needs your signature. Itโs very urgent, and the company can only release the funds with your signature.โ
Jim coughed, then said weakly, โGiveโฆgive it to me.โ
Sasha handed him the contract and flipped it right to the last page for Jim.
Jim was about to sign it when he sensed that something was wrong. He paused for a moment before flinging the paper away.
โHowโฆhow dare you trick me! This isnโt a company document, itโs a will! You want me to sign it so youโll get your hands on my assets!โ
Yvetteโs face paled. She didnโt expect Jim to be so clear-headed despite his condition.
Sasha decided to cut to the chase with him. โYou donโt have much time left, and you donโt have a choice. Youโll have to sign the will eventually, even if not today. Why do you still care about Rachel when sheโs no longer around? Why donโt you care more for me, my son, and Yvette?โ
Jimโs face turned purple with rage. โIโฆI did give you your share. Why are you doing this? Even if Rachel doesnโt come back, Iโm giving Rachel her share!โ
โI think youโve really gone mad! Rachel has disappeared and probably died long ago. How could you leave money in the hands of a corpse?!โ Sasha roared.
She was beginning to suspect that there was something mentally wrong with Jim and that he had turned foolish. Ever since Rachelโs disappearance, he had been drinking himself into a stupor.
Every single day, he mumbled sorrowful apologies to Melanie.
Sasha just couldnโt understand. Rachel wasnโt his daughter by blood. Even though he had raised her over the years, was she really worth him becoming like this?
Jim struggled to speak with all his might.
โThatโฆthatโs not something you need to concern yourself with. The money belongs to the family. Itโs not your place to call the shots on where the money goes. Whatever it is, Iโve written my will a long time ago. I donโt care if you two donโt like it.โ
With that, Jim collapsed on the bed, all out of energy.
Sasha shed all pretense of cordiality.
โSince youโre hellbent on giving the money to that wench, donโt blame me for forsaking our decades of marriage!โ she snarled.
She turned around and yelled at Yvette, who was standing there in a daze, โWhat are you doing just standing there? Hold your father up and make him sign it!โ
Yvette stepped forward to hold Jim up, but he glared furiously at her. โYvette, are you really going to be unfilial and go against me?โ
Yvette was hesitant. She had never done something like this and was shaking with fear.
โDadโฆ Iโฆ I have no choice, either. Youโre the one who decided to give Rachel everything. Sheโs dead, so why do you even care about her?โ
Jim gripped the sheets tightly, refusing to sign the will. Veins popped on his forehead, and his chest heaved. โYouโฆyou unfilial brat! Hadโฆhad I known youโd become like this, Iโd never have allowed you back!โ
His words were the straw that broke the camelโs back, erasing all of Yvetteโs hesitation and driving all her anger and indignation over the years to the surface.
Her pitch went up a notch as her voice pierced through the air in the ward.
โSince you see Rachel as your only daughter, thereโs no point in showing you mercy! Dad, youโre advanced in years. Donโt bother yourself with all these. Just give it to us!โ
Yvette grabbed Jimโs hand, forcing him to hold the pen while Sasha put the will on the table.
Together, they pressed Jimโs hand down on the last page.
โStop!โ
A womanโs cold, hard voice sounded at the door.
