A maid stumbled into the room to report, and all three of them froze.
Rachelโs pupils contracted. It felt as if someone had punched her straight in the gut. Why was Tyler suddenly at the Lloyd family estate? Did Xavier tell him? She wasnโt ready to face him. Truthfully speaking, Rachel felt deeply guilty toward Tyler. She had used him to fulfill her final wish and vanished without a word after that. Heโd probably been looking for her all these years just to settle the score. Honestly, there probably wasnโt a single person in all of Yurelia City who had dared to play Tyler for a fool like that. But sheโd had no other choice back then. No one wanted to mess with a sleeping lion unless they had no other choice.
Sasha reacted first. She quickly waved at the maid and shouted, โWhat are you standing there for? Stop him!โ She had a panicked expression. If Tyler saw Rachel now, wouldnโt that completely ruin any chance Yvette still had?
โSo this is how the Lloyd family treats their guests?โ The deep, chilling male voice rang out across the hall before the maids could even take a step.
Rachelโs entire back went rigid. Her legs suddenly felt like they were made of lead and frozen in place. Her fists clenched so tightly that her nails cut her palms, yet she felt no pain. Her heart pounded so hard it felt like it might explode from her chest.
Tyler stood there in a perfectly tailored gray suit, tall and imposing. A pair of thin, gold-rimmed glasses rested on his nose, but behind them, his dark eyes were a barely restrained storm. It was almost unbearable to look directly at him. He looked thinner than before, though maybe that was just Rachelโs imagination. The indifference in his eyes, however, was no illusion. They seemed even colder than she remembered. Not even a trace of warmth remained. It was like standing in the dead of winter.
But Tyler didnโt look at her directly. Instead, his gaze locked tightly onto Sasha.
Sashaโs face froze and turned pale. After a few seconds, she forced herself to speak. โMr. Hunt, you misunderstood. Of course we welcome you. Itโs just that thereโs been a lot going on at home lately. Weโre not really in a position to receive visitors.โ
Tyler raised his hand and brushed gently over his brow. As he lifted his gaze, a cold glint flashed through his eyes. Then he pointed straight at Rachel. โBy โa lot going on,โ you mean someone who vanished off the face of the earth for years suddenly turning up again?โ
Rachel didnโt know if she was imagining things, but in that moment he pointed at her, she felt like her entire body had been locked down by invisible chains.
Sasha stammered, โIโIโโ

Yvette quickly stepped in and hurried over to Tylerโs side. โMr. Hunt, this is all just a family matter. Donโt get involved. Come upstairs with me. I have something to talk to you about.โ
But Tylerโs eyes never left Rachel. His stare made her skin crawl. She instinctively looked away. She didnโt have time to waste here. She also couldnโt afford to care about Tyler right now.
So she turned again and headed straight upstairs.
Sasha rushed forward to block her again. โRachel, didnโt you hear what I said? I already told you, this is Lloyd family business! Youโre not even one of us. What right do you have to interfere?โ
Rachelโs gaze held unwavering determination. There was force behind her stare, and it made Sasha uneasy. She was frightened of Rachel, even if she wouldnโt admit it, but she couldnโt just stand by and watch Rachel walk away with the inheritance. For all she knew, Jim might have had a change of heart. Seeing Rachel again mightโve made him decide to leave everything to her.
Tyler casually sat down in a chair nearby, crossed his legs, and made himself at home as if he owned the place. โYvette, since your family matters arenโt resolved yet, go ahead and deal with them. Iโve got time to wait.โ
