Chapter 368
There was only one way for Samantha, which was to seek help from her mother.
Samantha called her mom and said anxiously, โMom, can you come to my house right now? I need help with something.โ
Mrs. Judd immediately agreed.
Samantha hung up and called for a cab.
Meanwhile, Cecilia observed everything that was going on and dialed Rachelโs number.
โRachel, itโs just as you expected! Samantha took the bait. She just left in a cab.โ
โHead over right now and do as Iโve said,โ Rachel said.
Unable to hold back her curiosity, Cecilia asked, โRachel, what else are you hiding from me? What else have you planned? Seeing you like this makes me uneasy.โ
โDonโt worry, Cecilia,โ Rachel comforted her, โIโll make up for all the injustice youโve suffered for my sake during your time at Lewis Enterprise.โ
Aside from being occupied by her fatherโs affairs, Rachel had more or less caught up with what had happened over the past five years since her departure.
All the shameless things William and Samantha had done stoked a fire in her heart.
She could easily forget about it if she were still overseas, miles away from them, unable to see what they were up to.
Yet, now that she was aware of it, she couldnโt let them off the hook so easily.
Ceciliaโs heart felt full at Rachelโs reassurance.
โThank you so much, Rachel! What you said made the injustice and humiliation I faced over the past few years all worth it. Thereโs no need for you to offend them for my sake. Iโm just worried about youโฆโ
Cecilia was worried, since Rachel alone couldnโt stand up against William and his company. He had not just Lewis Enterprise backing him up, but also the Lewis family.
Rachel, however, had set her mind to it. She knew she would accomplish nothing if she was plagued by fears.
โAlright, quit worrying about me and just do as I said. Donโt you want to secure a good future for your child and yourself?โ
Cecilia fell silent. She wanted to gain a foothold in Yurelia City and own a house, even if it was something small.
However, relying on her current income was insufficient, even if she were to slave away around the clock.
She had her selfish desires, which she knew were unfair to demand of Rachel.
Cecilia clenched her fists, telling herself that she wasnโt to be blamed. Samantha was the one at faultโshe was reaping what she had sown, after all.
After Samantha arrived home, she saw her mother waiting for her in the hall.
For the past few years, Mrs. Judd had been focusing on her health. If it werenโt for William splurging on an overseas doctor to treat her, she would be in a worrying state.
Even so, she still looked weak and frail, hanging by a mere thread.
She approached Samantha and held her hands tightly. Her tone was fraught with anxiety.
โSamantha, I read all about it online. Is William really in jail? What exactly is going on between you and William? Didnโt Ms. Lloyd force him to marry her because she was deaf? Wasnโt their marriage nothing but a facade?
โWhy are people rebuking you for being a homewrecker? Samantha, please explain things to me. We canโt have someone in our family doing something so shameless!โ
