The taste... It was oddly familiar.
Rachelโs eyes lit up. She recognized this taste from somewhere. โMr. Hunt, did you buy this from that stall at the entrance of Arden University?โ
โYeah.โ
Rachelโs heart leapt with joy. โThe food from that stall is excellent! How did you know it was good?โ
Tylerโs brow arched. โDo you not remember at all?โ
โWhat?โ Rachel was confused. What did that stall have to do with Tyler?
Tyler turned sideways. โHow did you end up liking the food from this stall?โ
At that question, memories came flooding back into Rachelโs mind. โThe stall wasnโt there at the entrance of Arden University at the start. Students werenโt allowed to leave the school at night, after all. William knew that I loved eating barbecued meat, so he made arrangements to shift a stall from afar there and paid them every month.
โWhenever I had the craving, William would climb over the fence and buy it for me. Then, I heard that something happened to the stall ownerโs family, and they stopped operations.
โIโve been trying many different stalls over the years, but none of them do it as well as they do. I didnโt expect to be able to taste it again today. Itโs all thanks to you, Mr. Hunt.โ
Rachel was so busy eating, she didnโt notice the light in Tylerโs eyes dimming.
โDid you say that it was William who shifted the stall to the university?โ Tyler asked her, his brows furrowed.
โYes, whatโs wrong?โ
Tyler scoffed. How scheming of that man!
โNothing. Youโll know next time.โ
Rachel felt that Tyler was being rather odd tonight, but she didnโt think much of it.
By the time they were done with the food, it was almost midnight.
Rachel cleaned everything up and started telling Tyler a bedtime story, but as she went on, she started falling asleep while leaning against the headboard.
Tyler, still awake, heard her voice fading away until all that was left was sleepy, shallow breathing.
The warm, dim light on the bedside table shone on Rachelโs face, her eyelashes casting crescent-shaped shadows.
Chuckling, Tyler mumbled to himself, โAre you supposed to be putting me or yourself to sleep?โ
Chapter 420
William stormed out of Tylerโs apartment, banging the steering wheel in a rage. Arsen had pulled him back into the car, quickly taking him away for fear that he might go back to settle scores with Tyler.
On their way back, Samantha kept calling him. However, William was seeing redโhe was in no mood to entertain her calls.
The thought of Tyler and Rachel alone in the apartment made his chest burn.
Arsen, seeing Williamโs phone screen lighting up with Samanthaโs name on it, asked cautiously, โMr. Lewis, arenโt you going to pick up Mrs. Lewisโs call?โ
William switched his phone off. โShe calls me every day; itโs annoying.โ
He had never found Samantha so stiflingโuntil Rachel disappeared and he married Samantha. After that, she started pestering him in all sorts of ways.
She would be calling him for no reason other than asking about his whereabouts.
He would be out negotiating a business deal, and she would be sending someone to keep an eye on him, especially if a woman was involved at the meeting.
She constantly told him about her fears of losing him, but life like that felt suffocating.
From the looks of it, Arsen knew that William didnโt want to go home.
โMr. Lewis, where shall we go now?โ
A thought suddenly came to Williamโs mind.
โCall Yvette and ask her to come out right now. Tell her I have a question for her.โ
