Listen to this chapter:

Samantha didnโ€™t speak very loudly, but it was enough for people around them to hear what she said. Cecilia was equally shocked.

Cecilia never liked Samantha to begin with. She was the one who wrecked Rachelโ€™s marriage, yet here she was, acting pitiful. It made Cecilia even more disgusted with her actions.

She said unceremoniously, โ€œMs. Judd, arenโ€™t you the thief crying 'thief' now? Whoโ€™s the one causing all the trouble? Do you really need me to drop some names?โ€

Samantha looked as pitiful as she did five years ago. Evidently, nothing much had changed.

โ€œBut Iโ€™m already married to William! Are you really going to snatch him from me, Rachel?โ€

Rachel and Cecilia had agreed to meet at a shopping mall where people were milling around. A crowd was gradually forming.

Samantha was making a mountain out of a molehill. How could anyone just fall to their knees for no good reason? How could she bring herself to cast aside her pride and dignity and kneel so grandiosely before Rachel?

As for Rachel, she refused to kneel before anyone โ€“ even if it meant losing a man she loved.

She had no sympathy whatsoever for Samantha and looked down on the latter for behaving this way.

โ€œMs. Judd, get this straight. Not everyone is like you, hankering after something someone else abandoned. Why would you fancy discarded trash?โ€ she spat.

โ€œIf thatโ€™s the case, can you please cut off contact with William? Please, Iโ€™m begging you, Rachel. Can you please keep your word and not secretly meet him at night? Itโ€™s really not easy, having made it all the way here with him,โ€ Samantha pleaded through her tears.

Rachel had to admit that Samanthaโ€™s tears were indeed impactful to those watching.

If she were ignorant, she might even begin thinking that she was the villain who stole Samanthaโ€™s man. Upon hearing Samanthaโ€™s pleas, the crowd gathering around them started criticizing Rachel.

โ€œI remember this woman. Isnโ€™t she William Lewisโ€˜ wife from five years ago, Rachel Lloyd?โ€

โ€œWho could forget? Their story took the entire city by storm. Everyone could see how dedicated and loving Mr. Lewis was! We remember it like it was just yesterday!โ€

โ€œYou might believe it, but I donโ€™t. Itโ€™s nothing but a show they put on. True love doesnโ€™t exist in wealthy families.โ€

โ€œMr. Lewis looked so broken-hearted when they got divorced back then. I thought he was truly sad that his wife was gone.โ€

โ€œYet he ended up with Samantha Judd not long later!โ€

โ€œHeโ€™s already with Samantha. Why is she trying to break them apart? Thatโ€™s too much.โ€

โ€œShe probably failed to find a better man elsewhere. I refuse to believe that she remained single over the past five years. Iโ€™m sure she couldnโ€™t find anyone better than Mr. Lewis.โ€

โ€œYes, Iโ€™m sure thatโ€™s the case. How disgusting of her!โ€

Everyone started pointing fingers at Rachel. More and more of them started sympathizing with Samantha. Someone even went to the extent of approaching Samantha and pulling her to her feet.

โ€œThis has nothing to do with you, maโ€™am. Youโ€™re not in the wrong, so why are you kneeling before her? Quick, get up.โ€

โ€œExactly! Youโ€™re too kind and too much of a pushover. If I were you, Iโ€™d give her a hard slap, thatโ€™s what Iโ€™d do!โ€
