Chapter 430
Rachel had to find out who Williamโs uncle was.
Cecilia managed to find out through the grapevine a little about how he looked. He was about six foot two and always looked cold and distant. His sharp facial features accentuated his outstanding aura and assertive edge, making him stand out from the crowd.
Rachel kept repeating the information in her head as she made her way through the crowd, but the more she thought about it, the more she felt like laughing. Having this so-called information was akin to not having any information at all! Not a single person in this place was considered ordinary.
Rachel gripped her handbag tightly, her heart racing at the thought of what she was hiding inside. She was ready to go all outโno matter what, she had to ask Williamโs uncle for help to clear her fatherโs name.
Rachel searched around the hall as she pushed past the crowd, drawing the attention of some people who started talking about her in hushed whispers.
โGoodness, isnโt that William Lewisโ ex-wife? Whatโs she doing here? Didnโt she disappear and die five years ago?โ
โWho said she died? The police never closed the case. That means sheโs just missing and not dead. Donโt talk nonsense.โ
โSo, where was she the past five years? I heard that Mr. Lewis had been secretly looking for her all this while, unbeknownst to everyone else.โ
โSeriously? Thatโs quite devoted of Mr. Lewis, to still be searching for her even after so many years.โ
โIf that were the case, why did he divorce her in the first place? Shouldnโt they have just stayed together?โ
โYou donโt understand. Men have a thing for their first love. Whether they end up married to another woman or not, there will always be a special place in their heart for their first love. Mr. Lewis is just like thatโhe couldnโt forget his first love even when he was with his wife. Thatโs why he ended up with his first love anyway, to make up for the regret back then.โ
โYet, when he eventually got together with his first love, the rose-tinted glasses he wore were completely shattered. With that, he decided that his ex-wife was better in comparison.โ
If Rachel werenโt busy searching for Williamโs uncle, she would have gone over and given the gossipmongers a thumbs-up. They were spot-on in their analysis of Williamโฆ
Rachel looked around the hall and realized that Yvette and Sasha were present, too. Sasha was tugging on the sleeve of a man on the cusp of middle age, intending to introduce him to Yvette.
โYvette, this is Mr. West from Haverwood Real Estate.โ
Yvette cast the plump, old man a disdainful look and realized how awkward the entire situation was.
Sasha nudged her with her elbow and smiled ingratiatingly at Mr. West. โSheโs a little shy.โ
With a bright smile, Jacob West said, โThatโs fine. I heard that you have another daughter by the name of Rachel. Is that right?โ
The fact that Rachel was a daughter of the Lloyd family was not something that Sasha could deny. Since the shareholder meeting held that day, everyone in the business circle knew that Rachel was related to the Lloyds. Despite being an illegitimate daughter, she still had the blood of the Lloyds flowing through her veins.
Sasha had no choice but to reply in the affirmative with a nod.
Jacob pushed his glasses up his nose bridge, the lenses reflecting light off them. โIs she still single?โ
