Her Exit 45

Listen to this chapter:

The feeling of soft fur brushing against her made all the hairs on Rachelโ€™s arms stand up. She jumped off the couch in shock and, without thinking, reached out to grab the hem of Tylerโ€™s shirt.

โ€œMr. Huntโ€ฆโ€

Why couldnโ€™t Tyler control his dog?!

Tyler barely lifted his eyes, his tone lazy. โ€œHe just wants you to pet him.โ€

Rachel looked at him, doubtful. โ€œAre you sure he doesnโ€™t want to eat me?โ€

She couldnโ€™t shake the feeling that the dog might leap at her any second.

Tyler took a sip of his coffee, then leaned back on the couch. โ€œHe does want to eat meat.โ€

That one sentence had Rachel shrinking back into the cushions, her whole body tense.

Tyler glanced at her and added, โ€œHe doesnโ€™t eat people, so why are you freaking out?โ€

Rachel knew Tyler liked to mess with people, but still, the dog was huge. It was hard not to be at least a little scared.

She just wanted to get this over with and leave.

โ€œMr. Hunt, maybe we should talk about Project Oasis,โ€ she said, trying to keep her voice steady. โ€œThat proposal from last timeโ€”what did you think?โ€

โ€œThe proposalโ€™s fine,โ€ Tyler said, โ€œbut are you sure William wonโ€™t figure it out?โ€

He rubbed his forehead, looking tired.

Rachel took a deep breath, then said calmly, โ€œEven if he does, it doesnโ€™t matter. The moment you secure the management rights, Iโ€™ll resign from Lewis Enterprise.โ€

Tyler gave her a quick look. โ€œWell, arenโ€™t you prepared?โ€

Rachel had already thought everything through. โ€œSo, thereโ€™s no need for you to worry. Iโ€™ll take full responsibility for whatever happens.โ€

โ€œSounds like youโ€™re ready to come clean with William,โ€ Tyler said.

He realized now that he might have underestimated her. At first, he thought she was only doing this because of her motherโ€™s final wish, not because she had truly thought it all through.

But nowโ€ฆ

This little princess seemed more thoughtful and composed than she ever was as a child.

And that only proved one thingโ€”William hadnโ€™t treated her all that well.

The light in her eyes was gone. What was left was calmness and control.

Rachel didnโ€™t want to get into personal matters with Tyler. The man was too sharp. Sometimes, he didnโ€™t even need the full storyโ€”he could just follow the clues and figure things out on his own.

No one knew Rachel planned to leave Yurelia City, not even Cecilia. Rachel wanted to disappear so that William would never find her.

โ€œIf thereโ€™s no issue with the proposal, I hope you can talk to William about it soon.โ€

โ€œI can,โ€ Tyler replied, โ€œbut thereโ€™s still one small issue with your plan that needs fixing.โ€

โ€œWhich part?โ€ Rachel asked, genuinely surprised. She had gone through the proposal again and again, making sure everything was covered. Yet, Tyler still spotted something?

He sat there like a lazy king, not even pretending he was going to move. Instead, he casually pointed upstairs.

โ€œThird room on the left. Thereโ€™s a file on the desk. Do me a favor and bring it down.โ€

Rachel wasnโ€™t even shocked anymore. Tyler was such a strange guy, and nothing he did really surprised her at this point.

Still, letting someone go into his private rooms the first time they paid a visit? That was a little unexpected.

โ€œYouโ€™re not worried I might steal something from you?โ€ she asked, raising an eyebrow.

Tylerโ€™s lips curled, his eyes full of lazy arrogance. โ€œIf youโ€™re going to steal something, you might as well steal me. Iโ€™m the most valuable thing in this house.โ€
