Chapter 536

Rachel couldnโ€™t exactly handle things on an empty stomach.

โ€œI figured there wasnโ€™t much to tell you. Everythingโ€™s already been taken care of.โ€

Cecilia instinctively asked, โ€œSo in that case, what about my job?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t be silly. I only cut ties with the Lloyd family, but I still have shares in Lloyd Enterprise. Iโ€™m still the largest shareholder. Youโ€™ve already joined the company, and Yvette doesnโ€™t have any real power in her hands. She canโ€™t touch you.โ€

Rachel had already thought through all of this. She wasnโ€™t acting blindly. Since she brought Cecilia into the company, she naturally planned to pave the way for her.

Cecilia was overwhelmed with emotion again.

โ€œRachel, I donโ€™t know what I did in my past life to deserve someone like you. If it wasnโ€™t for youโ€ฆโ€

She could already imagine how hopeless her life wouldโ€™ve been otherwise.

Rachel heard footsteps coming down the stairs and caught sight of Tyler.

โ€œAlright, letโ€™s talk later when I get back. I have to go.โ€

โ€œOkay.โ€

She had just hung up when Tyler reached the bottom of the stairs. He sat down, took a sip of milk, and asked casually, โ€œWhat was that about?โ€

Rachel paused for a moment. She hadnโ€™t said a word to him, and she was sure he hadnโ€™t overheard the call.

But somehow, he was terrifyingly perceptive. Even without hearing or seeing anything, he could sense when something was off.

If Tyler ever had a real girlfriend who cheated on him or something, he wouldnโ€™t even need to investigate. His instincts alone would be enough to sniff it out.

Thank goodness she wasnโ€™t his real girlfriend! She didnโ€™t even want to think about how that would end.

She lowered her head and kept munching on her sandwich. โ€œNothing, really. Cecilia just said the pads you bought were actually pretty good.โ€

Tyler frowned at that. Something about that sentence didnโ€™t sit right with him. A moment later, it hit him.

โ€œWhat do you mean, the pads I bought are pretty good? I bought them for you, not for her.โ€

Rachel noticed how his tone suddenly changed and raised a hand in mock reassurance.

โ€œAlright, alright, I get it. You bought them for me, not her. Okay?โ€

Tyler gave her a warning. โ€œBe more careful with your wording next time. If the wrong person heard that, theyโ€™d think Iโ€™m some kind of freak with a weird fetish for buying pads for people.โ€

Rachel couldnโ€™t help it. A vivid image popped into her head, and she burst out laughing. โ€œHahaha!โ€

She laughed so hard she doubled over, holding her stomach with no regard for appearances.

Wanda walked by and saw Rachel laughing hysterically. She couldnโ€™t help but ask, โ€œWhatโ€™s so funny? Tell me, I want in on the joke too.โ€

Rachel covered her mouth, her cheeks trembling as she tried to hold back.

โ€œWโ€“We were just talking about padsโ€ฆโ€

โ€œRachel, I think youโ€™re done eating. We should get going.โ€

Tyler cut her off mid-sentence, walked over, and without a word, lifted her right out of her chair like she weighed nothing.

Rachel quickly begged for mercy.

โ€œOkay, okay! I wonโ€™t say anything more! Let me go!โ€

Although the height difference between them wasnโ€™t that huge, she still felt oddly small while being held.

Hearing her plead, Tyler finally set her down.

โ€œIf you talk nonsense like that again, Iโ€™ll really teach you a lesson.โ€
