Chapter 64

At Rachelโ€™s words, Samanthaโ€™s face fell. She looked at Rachel with a pitiful expression and pleaded, โ€œRache, donโ€™t you know Mr. Hunt? For you, itโ€™s just a matter of a phone call. How am I supposed to secure an appointment with him?โ€

Samantha tugged on the hem of Williamโ€™s jacket, the same piteous look still on her face. โ€œWilliam, talk to Rachel. Donโ€™t you always say that sheโ€™s the nicest?โ€

William looked at Samanthaโ€™s red-rimmed eyes and comforted her tenderly, โ€œDonโ€™t worry, I know Rachel best. She wouldnโ€™t decline to help. Forget helping you, she even gives money to the homeless on the streets!โ€

Samantha heaved a sigh of relief and patted her chest. โ€œThatโ€™s great! I knew Rachel wasnโ€™t such a heartless person.โ€

Rachelโ€™s eyes narrowed.

William turned around and said to her, โ€œRachel, you know Mr. Hunt. He even helped you before. Just find an excuse to ask him out for a meal. It shouldnโ€™t be a problem.โ€

Again, it wasnโ€™t a question but a declaration. Rachelโ€™s eyes were filled with cold disdain. Did William forget what he reminded her of earlier? He demanded she not get too close to Tyler, claiming that Tyler was temperamental and elusive.

Yet now, for Samanthaโ€™s sake, he wanted her to ask Tyler out. Hah! This was the man she loved for seven years. Before finding out about Samantha, Rachel had intended to have his baby in one or two years.

She had been an utter fool. However, she calmed her raging emotions down and agreed without an ounce of displeasure on her face. โ€œIโ€™ll give it a try.โ€

Samantha grabbed Rachelโ€™s hand agitatedly. She had on a little makeup, and the light blush on her cheeks made her look even more likable.

โ€œThank you so much, Rachel! If you could land a meeting with Mr. Hunt, William and I will treat you to a meal.โ€

The smile on Rachelโ€™s face froze. Rachel wasnโ€™t sure if Samantha spoke too quickly and without restraint because she was too happy, or if this woman had done it on purpose.

Samantha was deliberately hinting that she and William were on the same side, while Rachel was merely an outsider.

William, sensing something was wrong with Samanthaโ€™s words, coughed lightly. He signed to Rachel, โ€œIโ€™ll have Arsen help you move your things to the new office.โ€

โ€œNo need. I can do it myself. I donโ€™t have that many things.โ€

Rachel originally thought that she could bear with it for just a few more days, but she recently had serious breathing problems affecting daily life and work. It was certainly better for her to be in another room.

William didnโ€™t push further. He glanced at his watch. โ€œI need to go for a meeting.โ€

With that, Samantha left with him.

Rachel had a habit of settling issues once they were presented to her. She would never drag her feet if she could help it. Since William wanted her to contact Tyler, she immediately texted him the moment she settled into her seat.

โ€œ[Mr. Hunt, is it convenient for us to meet? Iโ€™d like to talk to you.]โ€

Tylerโ€™s reply was immediate. โ€œ[Not so convenient these days.]โ€

Rachelโ€™s heart fell. Not convenient? What was he busy with?

Rachel wouldnโ€™t insist on meeting him, but things were critical right now. She had to reach an agreement with Tyler, and he had to sign an agreement with LS Enterprise for her to take over Project Oasis. Only after the design was completed would she be able to leave with peace of mind.

The situation right now, with things hanging in the air without a clear-cut conclusion, was most tormenting.

Rachelโ€™s fingers flew across the screen on her phone.
