Chapter 64
At Rachelโs words, Samanthaโs face fell. She looked at Rachel with a pitiful expression and pleaded, โRache, donโt you know Mr. Hunt? For you, itโs just a matter of a phone call. How am I supposed to secure an appointment with him?โ
Samantha tugged on the hem of Williamโs jacket, the same piteous look still on her face. โWilliam, talk to Rachel. Donโt you always say that sheโs the nicest?โ
William looked at Samanthaโs red-rimmed eyes and comforted her tenderly, โDonโt worry, I know Rachel best. She wouldnโt decline to help. Forget helping you, she even gives money to the homeless on the streets!โ
Samantha heaved a sigh of relief and patted her chest. โThatโs great! I knew Rachel wasnโt such a heartless person.โ
Rachelโs eyes narrowed.
William turned around and said to her, โRachel, you know Mr. Hunt. He even helped you before. Just find an excuse to ask him out for a meal. It shouldnโt be a problem.โ
Again, it wasnโt a question but a declaration. Rachelโs eyes were filled with cold disdain. Did William forget what he reminded her of earlier? He demanded she not get too close to Tyler, claiming that Tyler was temperamental and elusive.
Yet now, for Samanthaโs sake, he wanted her to ask Tyler out. Hah! This was the man she loved for seven years. Before finding out about Samantha, Rachel had intended to have his baby in one or two years.
She had been an utter fool. However, she calmed her raging emotions down and agreed without an ounce of displeasure on her face. โIโll give it a try.โ
Samantha grabbed Rachelโs hand agitatedly. She had on a little makeup, and the light blush on her cheeks made her look even more likable.
โThank you so much, Rachel! If you could land a meeting with Mr. Hunt, William and I will treat you to a meal.โ
The smile on Rachelโs face froze. Rachel wasnโt sure if Samantha spoke too quickly and without restraint because she was too happy, or if this woman had done it on purpose.
Samantha was deliberately hinting that she and William were on the same side, while Rachel was merely an outsider.
William, sensing something was wrong with Samanthaโs words, coughed lightly. He signed to Rachel, โIโll have Arsen help you move your things to the new office.โ
โNo need. I can do it myself. I donโt have that many things.โ
Rachel originally thought that she could bear with it for just a few more days, but she recently had serious breathing problems affecting daily life and work. It was certainly better for her to be in another room.
William didnโt push further. He glanced at his watch. โI need to go for a meeting.โ
With that, Samantha left with him.
Rachel had a habit of settling issues once they were presented to her. She would never drag her feet if she could help it. Since William wanted her to contact Tyler, she immediately texted him the moment she settled into her seat.
โ[Mr. Hunt, is it convenient for us to meet? Iโd like to talk to you.]โ
Tylerโs reply was immediate. โ[Not so convenient these days.]โ
Rachelโs heart fell. Not convenient? What was he busy with?
Rachel wouldnโt insist on meeting him, but things were critical right now. She had to reach an agreement with Tyler, and he had to sign an agreement with LS Enterprise for her to take over Project Oasis. Only after the design was completed would she be able to leave with peace of mind.
The situation right now, with things hanging in the air without a clear-cut conclusion, was most tormenting.
Rachelโs fingers flew across the screen on her phone.
