Chapter 699
Tyler gripped the contract tightly, as if something had just clicked in his mind. He turned to the others still combing through the files.
โYou can stop investigating.โ
Everyone froze mid-task.
โMr. Hunt, what do you mean? Stop? Weโre not investigating anymore?โ
โI already know what they were after.โ Tyler rose with the contracts in hand. โTheir target must have been these documents.โ
A few people exchanged confused looks.
โMr. Hunt, what do you mean by that? Are you saying they broke in just for these projects? But that doesnโt make senseโthe contracts are with foreign partners, arenโt they?โ
โYeah, and once contracts like these are signed and printed, theyโre final. Nothing about them should be a problem.โ
Yale quickly jumped in, trying to muddy the waters and divert suspicion.
โMr. Hunt, could it be that you already approved and signed them earlier, but then forgot later on?โ
Tyler glared at Yale. โYale, do you take me for my old man, so senile I canโt tell if I signed something or not?โ
Yale immediately lowered his head. โI wouldnโt dare, Mr. Hunt.โ
Pointing to the stamp and handwriting, Tyler continued coldly, โAt first glance, it looks like mine. But if you look carefully, the handwriting has a delicate, almost feminine quality to it. It lacks the force of a manโs pen. Which means it was forged by a woman imitating my signature.โ
Yaleโs heart jolted violently.
Did Tyler already figure everything out? They hadnโt even planned their next move yet.
Yale dared not say another word. He was afraid that any slip would shift Tylerโs suspicion directly onto him.
At that moment, the technicians approached cautiously.
โMr. Hunt, we tried to recover the surveillance footage just now, but we failed.โ
Their voices grew smaller and smaller. They didnโt dare to even meet his gaze.
The office air-conditioning was set to its lowest, yet Tylerโs expression was colder than the room itself.
He walked to the computer with the black screen before knocking on the desk with his knuckle.
โYouโve been at this for two hours, and this is the result you brought me?โ
The technicians broke out in a cold sweat. Their voices trembled.
โMโMr. Hunt, we really did everything we could. We donโt even know who this person is. Theyโre far too skilled. Weโve been trying to figure it out for so long, but we stillโฆโ
โStill what?โ Tyler suddenly stood up. His suit jacket swept across the table, scattering papers in a harsh rustle. He loomed over the technician, his presence crushing. โI pay you generously, not to hear excuses.โ
โMr. Hunt, we-โ
The man tried to explain, but Tyler cut him off with a single raised hand and a cold glare. โDonโt bother showing up tomorrow.โ
โMr. Hunt-โ
They tried to plead, but Yale had already stepped forward to drive them out.
โEnough. Your skills are lackingโthatโs on you. Mr. Hunt was clear from the start. The one thing he wonโt tolerate is outside forces breaching our system. The surveillance was destroyed, and now you canโt even restore it. You know the company rules.โ
The technicians glanced at each other before leaving in defeat.
Tyler then questioned the other staff one by one, but the answers were the same. None of them had seen anyone enter the building.
Leaning back in his chair, Tyler frowned intensely. โIf thatโs the case, the intruder was most likely someone on the inside. Only an insider would know the buildingโs layout well enough to slip in unseen.โ
