Chapter 729

Rachel knew it was nothing good. Given what she knew of Tyler, he would never entertain gossip, even if someone took the initiative to share it with him. How could a man like him want to share a piece of gossip he overheard with her? Rachelโ€™s instincts told her that it was a trap.

She pretended to yawn. โ€œLetโ€™s talk about it tomorrow. Itโ€™s very late.โ€

Tyler arched a brow, a smile stretching across his face. There was a glint in those deep, dark eyes of his.

โ€œFine, weโ€™ll talk about it tomorrow. Rest early tonight. Your room or mine?โ€

Rachel was stunned to hear his question. โ€œWhat do you mean by that?โ€

โ€œPutting me to sleep,โ€ Tyler reminded her.

Rachel glanced at the time on her phone. โ€œLook at the date. What date is it today?โ€

โ€œOh, the contract is up. Weโ€™ll extend it by one day, and Iโ€™ll transfer you the money tomorrow.โ€

With that, Tyler started unbuttoning his shirt, not caring about Rachelโ€™s answer.

โ€œIโ€™m not extending the contract. Go back to your room,โ€ Rachel said.

Why did this man not have any sense of urgency? It felt as though he wasnโ€™t the one getting bankruptโ€”like he was still a millionaire with truckloads of money to spare.

Tylerโ€™s hands didnโ€™t stop; he continued unbuttoning his shirt. โ€œWeโ€™ve been working together for so long, Iโ€™m sure itโ€™s not much to ask to extend our term by one day.โ€

โ€œYouโ€ฆโ€ Rachel suddenly had no words to refute him.

Before she could react, Tyler lay on her bed.

Rachel clenched her fists as anger surged through her veins. She wasnโ€™t his servant; why did she have to be at his beck and call while he had such a splendid date with Anne, who even invited him to a private villa?! Since Tyler was fully intending to sell himself to Anne, why bother bringing her and Yale along in the first place? They wanted to secure this project through the merits of the proposal itself. They werenโ€™t here to be matchmakers for the two!

Rachel looked at Tyler lying on her bed and plopped down on a chair.

She said coldly, โ€œGo back to your room. If Anne calls, itโ€™ll be difficult to explain things to her. Whatโ€™s more, our contract has expired. I have nothing to do with you anymore. Weโ€™re not a couple anymore, either.โ€

Tylerโ€™s tall figure, stretched across the bed, suddenly turned to its side. He rested his head on his palm and looked meaningfully at Rachel.

โ€œYouโ€™re getting increasingly careless about the contractual terms."

Rachel turned to look at him. โ€œWhat do you mean by that?โ€

A bad feeling rose in her chest.

โ€œWant to read through the contract one more time? Didnโ€™t I send you the electronic copy before?โ€

Rachel furrowed her brows. โ€œWhat do you mean? Just tell me straight.โ€

Tyler wouldnโ€™t be ridiculous enough to add a clause when it didnโ€™t exist.

โ€œSure, let me tell you all about it. Thereโ€™s an additional clause that states that if you fail to coax me to sleep for any reason, youโ€™ll make up for it at another time,โ€ Tyler said leisurely.
