Chapter 729
Rachel knew it was nothing good. Given what she knew of Tyler, he would never entertain gossip, even if someone took the initiative to share it with him. How could a man like him want to share a piece of gossip he overheard with her? Rachelโs instincts told her that it was a trap.
She pretended to yawn. โLetโs talk about it tomorrow. Itโs very late.โ
Tyler arched a brow, a smile stretching across his face. There was a glint in those deep, dark eyes of his.
โFine, weโll talk about it tomorrow. Rest early tonight. Your room or mine?โ
Rachel was stunned to hear his question. โWhat do you mean by that?โ
โPutting me to sleep,โ Tyler reminded her.
Rachel glanced at the time on her phone. โLook at the date. What date is it today?โ
โOh, the contract is up. Weโll extend it by one day, and Iโll transfer you the money tomorrow.โ
With that, Tyler started unbuttoning his shirt, not caring about Rachelโs answer.
โIโm not extending the contract. Go back to your room,โ Rachel said.
Why did this man not have any sense of urgency? It felt as though he wasnโt the one getting bankruptโlike he was still a millionaire with truckloads of money to spare.
Tylerโs hands didnโt stop; he continued unbuttoning his shirt. โWeโve been working together for so long, Iโm sure itโs not much to ask to extend our term by one day.โ
โYouโฆโ Rachel suddenly had no words to refute him.
Before she could react, Tyler lay on her bed.
Rachel clenched her fists as anger surged through her veins. She wasnโt his servant; why did she have to be at his beck and call while he had such a splendid date with Anne, who even invited him to a private villa?! Since Tyler was fully intending to sell himself to Anne, why bother bringing her and Yale along in the first place? They wanted to secure this project through the merits of the proposal itself. They werenโt here to be matchmakers for the two!
Rachel looked at Tyler lying on her bed and plopped down on a chair.
She said coldly, โGo back to your room. If Anne calls, itโll be difficult to explain things to her. Whatโs more, our contract has expired. I have nothing to do with you anymore. Weโre not a couple anymore, either.โ
Tylerโs tall figure, stretched across the bed, suddenly turned to its side. He rested his head on his palm and looked meaningfully at Rachel.
โYouโre getting increasingly careless about the contractual terms."
Rachel turned to look at him. โWhat do you mean by that?โ
A bad feeling rose in her chest.
โWant to read through the contract one more time? Didnโt I send you the electronic copy before?โ
Rachel furrowed her brows. โWhat do you mean? Just tell me straight.โ
Tyler wouldnโt be ridiculous enough to add a clause when it didnโt exist.
โSure, let me tell you all about it. Thereโs an additional clause that states that if you fail to coax me to sleep for any reason, youโll make up for it at another time,โ Tyler said leisurely.
