Her Exit 73

Listen to this chapter:

William was already in a bad mood to begin with, and Tylerโ€™s appearance made things worse.

He let out a cough and said calmly, โ€œHere to bring Samanthaโ€™s mother for a check-up.โ€

Tyler nodded pensively and hummed.

Rachel shut her eyes tight. She wouldnโ€™t claim to know Tyler very well, but she knew that he would never bother to show others undue respect.

Him humming meant one thingโ€”trouble was about to befall them.

As she expected, Tylerโ€™s words dropped like a bomb on Williamโ€™s head. He refused to preserve Williamโ€™s pride, not even bothering to veil the truth for him.

โ€œYou didnโ€™t even bother about your wife, who almost fainted by the roadside, and here you are, bringing the mother of your dream woman for a check-up. What a good husband and filial son you are!โ€

Not only did Tylerโ€™s words bring shame upon William, but they even managed to embarrass Samantha, who was standing nearby.

She pursed her lips, tears welling up in her eyes as she said in a trembling voice, โ€œMr. Hunt, donโ€™t blame William! This has nothing to do with him. I was the one who asked him to bring my mom and me here for a check-up. This timeโ€ฆโ€

โ€œHold it right there, Ms. Judd. I have immunity to pretentious bitches, so the act youโ€™re trying to put on has no effect on me. Anyway, this is your private affair. Itโ€™s none of my business. Isnโ€™t it your turn to see the doctor? Hurry up, donโ€™t waste other peopleโ€™s time.โ€

Tyler didnโ€™t bother giving Samantha the chance to explain herself and simply cut her off.

Samantha didnโ€™t even have the time to conjure up tears. She stood stunned, not knowing what to do at that moment.

Others may not know Tyler well, but William did. He knew that pursuing the matter further wouldnโ€™t do anyone good.

He simply nodded at Tyler.

โ€œWeโ€™ll be off, then.โ€

William brought Samantha and Charmaine straight into the consulting room that Rachel had just left.

Tyler scoffed and stuck his hands in his pockets. He made his way leisurely to Rachelโ€™s side and pulled out a napkin for her.

โ€œNeed a cry?โ€

Rachel sniffed, snapping back to attention and forcing her tears back in. โ€œThereโ€™s nothing to cry about.โ€

โ€œOh, I thought I could finally put this napkin to good use. What a pity, Iโ€™ll just have to use it to wipe my mouth after a meal.โ€ Tyler stuffed the napkin back in his pocket and placed the prescription and bill in Rachelโ€™s palm. โ€œTell William to pay me back.โ€

Rachel glanced at the figure towering before her and back at the bill in her palm.

It was 150 dollars.

She was beginning to understand why Tyler was able to grow LS Enterprise to such stellar excellence in a matter of just two years.

Rachel lay on the bed as she was hooked up to an IV drip. The doctor put her on an oxygenator in consideration of her breathing difficulties.

After half an hour, she finally felt herself more or less restored.

Tyler sat on the chair, his legs crossed and his back slightly bent over as he looked at his phone. His svelte fingers flew across the screen, as if dancing to a beautiful melody. Paired with the elegant cufflinks and his white shirt, it made for a mesmerizing sight.

Rachel thought that while her fingers were long and nice to look at too, they were nothing compared to Tylerโ€™s. There was a sort of weight and power to a manโ€™s hands.

Tyler, sensing a gaze on him, looked up. He followed Rachelโ€™s gaze and realized she was looking at his hands.

He said in jest, โ€œShall I bring a knife and chop them off so you can bring it home and admire them all day long?โ€
