Chapter 742
Without Tylerโs say-so, how would Yale dare to tell Anne about Tyler and Rachelโs relationship?
In the end, he only gave a vague answer. โMs. Charlton, as Mr. Huntโs assistant, I donโt get involved in his private matters. All I know is, Iโve heard him mention before that he had a close relationship with Ms. Lloydโs mother. She once helped him a great deal.โ
Anne nodded thoughtfully.
โI see. I thought they were dating. Well, as long as Tyler is still single, thatโs what matters.โ
The stormy look on Anneโs face vanished in an instant. Her smile bloomed again, even brighter than before.
Yale was stunned. It was the first time he had ever seen such drastic shifts in a womanโs expression. Just a moment ago, Anne looked so jealous and furious that he thought she might slap him across the face.
In the next second, her smile was dazzling enough to pull someone right in.
Yale thought to himself that he was lucky his girlfriend wasnโt like this. Otherwise, heโd lose his mind.
Anne placed her hand on Yaleโs arm with an air of superiority. At first, Yale didnโt even react and only gave her a puzzled look.
Anne glanced at him impatiently. โDidnโt Tyler just say youโre supposed to drive me to the hospital?โ
โOh, right.โ Yale helped Anne into the car.
The moment she sat down, he turned his head and frowned. Hadnโt she just said she didnโt need his help?
Dealing with Anneโs unpredictable mood swings, he suddenly felt that Rachelโs temperament was much better.
At least Rachel wasnโt so unpredictable.
Back at the hotel, Rachel was still in shock. Even when Tyler helped her down onto the couch, she sat frozen.
Her body was stiff, and every movement required his assistance.
Her eyes were vacant, and her face was pale.
Tylerโs heart ached at the sight. He moved carefully, afraid to startle her, gently stroking her back again and again.
โItโs over now. Weโre safe. And you did great today, Rach.โ
Rachel flinched at the nickname, her brows furrowing slightly as she finally showed a bit of reaction. She turned to him and muttered, โCan you not call me Rach? Every time you do, I feel like youโre calling your pet.โ
Hearing her speak coherently at last, Tylerโs worry eased. He smiled softly and gave in.
โAlright, no more Rach.โ
Rachelโs mind slowly began to clear. She looked at Tyler and asked, โIs Anne okay? When I fired, I aimed at Aaronโs arm. I didnโt hit anything vital, did I?โ
At that moment, she hadnโt thought about anything else. A single thought consumed her.
She couldnโt let Tyler get hurt.
After what happened with Howard, Rachel was already on edge. She wasnโt afraid of Tyler ending up disabled.
She would take care of him for the rest of her life if she had to.
What terrified her was the idea of holding him back. With his skills, he deserved more opportunities, not to be dragged down because of her.
Tyler gently tapped her forehead.
โDonโt worry. I saw it clearly. You hit Aaron right in the arm. Your aim was sharp! When are you going to teach me?โ
Rachel shot him a look of disbelief. โAre you insane? Thatโs what you want to learn?โ
Tyler wrapped her in his arms, coaxing her as if she were a child.
โTell me, how did you get the courage to pull that trigger? Didnโt you think about the consequences? If youโd mishandled the gun and hurt yourself or accidentally shot someone else, the outcome couldโve been serious.โ
