Chapter 742

Without Tylerโ€™s say-so, how would Yale dare to tell Anne about Tyler and Rachelโ€™s relationship?

In the end, he only gave a vague answer. โ€œMs. Charlton, as Mr. Huntโ€™s assistant, I donโ€™t get involved in his private matters. All I know is, Iโ€™ve heard him mention before that he had a close relationship with Ms. Lloydโ€™s mother. She once helped him a great deal.โ€

Anne nodded thoughtfully.

โ€œI see. I thought they were dating. Well, as long as Tyler is still single, thatโ€™s what matters.โ€

The stormy look on Anneโ€™s face vanished in an instant. Her smile bloomed again, even brighter than before.

Yale was stunned. It was the first time he had ever seen such drastic shifts in a womanโ€™s expression. Just a moment ago, Anne looked so jealous and furious that he thought she might slap him across the face.

In the next second, her smile was dazzling enough to pull someone right in.

Yale thought to himself that he was lucky his girlfriend wasnโ€™t like this. Otherwise, heโ€™d lose his mind.

Anne placed her hand on Yaleโ€™s arm with an air of superiority. At first, Yale didnโ€™t even react and only gave her a puzzled look.

Anne glanced at him impatiently. โ€œDidnโ€™t Tyler just say youโ€™re supposed to drive me to the hospital?โ€

โ€œOh, right.โ€ Yale helped Anne into the car.

The moment she sat down, he turned his head and frowned. Hadnโ€™t she just said she didnโ€™t need his help?

Dealing with Anneโ€™s unpredictable mood swings, he suddenly felt that Rachelโ€™s temperament was much better.

At least Rachel wasnโ€™t so unpredictable.

Back at the hotel, Rachel was still in shock. Even when Tyler helped her down onto the couch, she sat frozen.

Her body was stiff, and every movement required his assistance.

Her eyes were vacant, and her face was pale.

Tylerโ€™s heart ached at the sight. He moved carefully, afraid to startle her, gently stroking her back again and again.

โ€œItโ€™s over now. Weโ€™re safe. And you did great today, Rach.โ€

Rachel flinched at the nickname, her brows furrowing slightly as she finally showed a bit of reaction. She turned to him and muttered, โ€œCan you not call me Rach? Every time you do, I feel like youโ€™re calling your pet.โ€

Hearing her speak coherently at last, Tylerโ€™s worry eased. He smiled softly and gave in.

โ€œAlright, no more Rach.โ€

Rachelโ€™s mind slowly began to clear. She looked at Tyler and asked, โ€œIs Anne okay? When I fired, I aimed at Aaronโ€™s arm. I didnโ€™t hit anything vital, did I?โ€

At that moment, she hadnโ€™t thought about anything else. A single thought consumed her.

She couldnโ€™t let Tyler get hurt.

After what happened with Howard, Rachel was already on edge. She wasnโ€™t afraid of Tyler ending up disabled.

She would take care of him for the rest of her life if she had to.

What terrified her was the idea of holding him back. With his skills, he deserved more opportunities, not to be dragged down because of her.

Tyler gently tapped her forehead.

โ€œDonโ€™t worry. I saw it clearly. You hit Aaron right in the arm. Your aim was sharp! When are you going to teach me?โ€

Rachel shot him a look of disbelief. โ€œAre you insane? Thatโ€™s what you want to learn?โ€

Tyler wrapped her in his arms, coaxing her as if she were a child.

โ€œTell me, how did you get the courage to pull that trigger? Didnโ€™t you think about the consequences? If youโ€™d mishandled the gun and hurt yourself or accidentally shot someone else, the outcome couldโ€™ve been serious.โ€
