Chapter 749
Rachel could barely handle her own situation, let alone worry about Anne.
Anne suddenly felt a cold draft between her legs, and a wave of despair crashed over her.
But in the next instant, the crushing weight on her body was gone.
Tyler had yanked the man off and smashed his fist into his face. The manโs cheek swelled instantly, the damage obvious even to the naked eye.
Tyler didnโt even bother finishing him off. All he could think about was Rachel. He dropped to his knees, pulled her into his arms, and anxiously patted her face that was pale from lack of air.
โRachel, Rachel!โ
There was no response. Tyler bent forward and pressed his ear to her chest. When he caught the faint sound of her heartbeat, he finally sighed in reliefโbut that didnโt mean she was out of danger.
Anne scrambled to her feet and rushed over, panic in her eyes as she saw Rachelโs lifeless state.
โTyler, we need to get her to a hospital right now! She must have inhaled a lot of sand. It could block her airway!โ
โAlright. You call the police.โ
Tyler scooped Rachel into his arms and headed away from the crowd, but Anne suddenly shouted after him.
โTyler, donโt! We canโt call the cops! I heard those guys have connections with the police!โ
Tyler didnโt so much as flinch after hearing that. Instead, he felt like laughing.
โCall them anyway.โ
Anne didnโt know what he was thinking, but she had no choice except to listen.
Meanwhile, Sawyer quickly caught up. When his men told him the situation, one asked nervously, โSawyer, theyโre trying to call the cops! What do we do?โ
Sawyer just burst out laughing.
โThey want the cops involved? Perfect! Weโll talk it out at the station. Iโll make sure they donโt walk away so easily.โ
Since they had already decided to report it, Sawyer didnโt bother stopping them.
At the hospital, doctors immediately rushed Rachel into emergency rescue. Tyler and Anne sat on the waiting-room bench. Yale made his way there as soon as he heard the news.
โMr. Hunt, howโs Ms. Lloyd?โ
โShe inhaled a lot of sand. The doctors canโt say anything for sure yet. We just have to wait.โ
Tyler furrowed his brows. His expression was dark as he rubbed his forehead.
Yale sat down beside him. โMr. Hunt, Iโll handle the rest, but youโll still need to stop by the station to give a statement later.โ
โAlright. Also, dig into those men. They were too brazen, trying to assault women in broad daylight.โ
โYes, sir.โ
Yale quickly left the hospital.
Anne sat there sobbing. Her clothes were torn so badly that they barely covered her.
Tyler glanced at her, then shrugged off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders.
โYou should get checked, too.โ
โIโm fine. Itโs just scratches. Ms. Lloyd had it so much worse. Tyler, Iโm so sorry. I caused all this trouble for you. If I hadnโt been so reckless, none of this would have happened.โ
Even now, just thinking about what had happened made her tremble with fear.
