Chapter 749

Rachel could barely handle her own situation, let alone worry about Anne.

Anne suddenly felt a cold draft between her legs, and a wave of despair crashed over her.

But in the next instant, the crushing weight on her body was gone.

Tyler had yanked the man off and smashed his fist into his face. The manโ€™s cheek swelled instantly, the damage obvious even to the naked eye.

Tyler didnโ€™t even bother finishing him off. All he could think about was Rachel. He dropped to his knees, pulled her into his arms, and anxiously patted her face that was pale from lack of air.

โ€œRachel, Rachel!โ€

There was no response. Tyler bent forward and pressed his ear to her chest. When he caught the faint sound of her heartbeat, he finally sighed in reliefโ€”but that didnโ€™t mean she was out of danger.

Anne scrambled to her feet and rushed over, panic in her eyes as she saw Rachelโ€™s lifeless state.

โ€œTyler, we need to get her to a hospital right now! She must have inhaled a lot of sand. It could block her airway!โ€

โ€œAlright. You call the police.โ€

Tyler scooped Rachel into his arms and headed away from the crowd, but Anne suddenly shouted after him.

โ€œTyler, donโ€™t! We canโ€™t call the cops! I heard those guys have connections with the police!โ€

Tyler didnโ€™t so much as flinch after hearing that. Instead, he felt like laughing.

โ€œCall them anyway.โ€

Anne didnโ€™t know what he was thinking, but she had no choice except to listen.

Meanwhile, Sawyer quickly caught up. When his men told him the situation, one asked nervously, โ€œSawyer, theyโ€™re trying to call the cops! What do we do?โ€

Sawyer just burst out laughing.

โ€œThey want the cops involved? Perfect! Weโ€™ll talk it out at the station. Iโ€™ll make sure they donโ€™t walk away so easily.โ€

Since they had already decided to report it, Sawyer didnโ€™t bother stopping them.

At the hospital, doctors immediately rushed Rachel into emergency rescue. Tyler and Anne sat on the waiting-room bench. Yale made his way there as soon as he heard the news.

โ€œMr. Hunt, howโ€™s Ms. Lloyd?โ€

โ€œShe inhaled a lot of sand. The doctors canโ€™t say anything for sure yet. We just have to wait.โ€

Tyler furrowed his brows. His expression was dark as he rubbed his forehead.

Yale sat down beside him. โ€œMr. Hunt, Iโ€™ll handle the rest, but youโ€™ll still need to stop by the station to give a statement later.โ€

โ€œAlright. Also, dig into those men. They were too brazen, trying to assault women in broad daylight.โ€

โ€œYes, sir.โ€

Yale quickly left the hospital.

Anne sat there sobbing. Her clothes were torn so badly that they barely covered her.

Tyler glanced at her, then shrugged off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders.

โ€œYou should get checked, too.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m fine. Itโ€™s just scratches. Ms. Lloyd had it so much worse. Tyler, Iโ€™m so sorry. I caused all this trouble for you. If I hadnโ€™t been so reckless, none of this would have happened.โ€

Even now, just thinking about what had happened made her tremble with fear.
