Chapter 754

Rachel narrowed her eyes slightly at Anne’s words.

Anne tilted her head back and let out a long sigh.

“But now, I don’t think that way anymore. I’ve seen the way he looks at you. You know what it’s like, when a person’s eyes are full of nothing but you.”

She couldn’t stop herself from talking.

“I’ve never seen him like this before. Back when we worked together, plenty of women chased after him, but he never showed interest in a single one of them.

“Later, I even asked him about it. So many beautiful, outstanding women after him, but why didn’t he like any of them? Do you know what we suspected? We actually thought maybe he liked guys. He was always surrounded by guys at work, anyway.”

Rachel couldn’t hold back her laughter at that and shook her head.

“I can’t blame you for thinking that. I was the same. He had so many women around him, but he didn’t like any of them. It’s hard not to wonder. Especially these days, when same–sex relationships are so common.”

Anne’s expression suddenly turned serious.

“Someone actually asked him about it. Do you know what he said? He said he already had someone he liked. A girl he’d been secretly in love with for a very long time.

“He stressed the words ‘for a very long time.’ After that, the coworkers who had been pursuing him stopped. I guess they realized that for someone like him, if he already liked someone, it would be nearly impossible for him to like anyone else.”

Rachel’s thoughts turned into a jumble.

“You mean he has liked that girl ever since back then?”

“Yes. For many years, even earlier than we think. I don’t know who exactly, but judging from what I’ve observed these past few days, I think it’s very likely you.”

Rachel’s expression changed ever so slightly.

“Me?”

Anne’s negative emotions had mostly subsided by now, and she spoke calmly and rationally as she analyzed it for Rachel.

“Think about it. You know better than I do what kind of family environment Tyler grew up in. And didn’t you mention before that Tyler knew your mother? That he had some kind of connection with her? That means he came into contact with you very early on. So I really think it’s probably you.”

Rachel knew Tyler genuinely had feelings for her now, and he had made it clear he was serious about her.

But when she really thought about it, the idea that he had secretly liked her all these years still felt too far-fetched.

‘Tyler, secretly in love with me?’

Rachel shook her head. The possibility was just too much to take seriously. It felt almost unreal, like something out of a dream.

“Ms. Charlton, you really sound like you’re joking with me. For all we know, it could’ve been some childhood neighbor girl he knew. That’s just as possible.”

Anne, however, had already let go of her obsession with Tyler. Whoever he liked no longer mattered to her.

“Doesn’t matter. Whoever he likes, it has nothing to do with me anymore."

Rachel didn’t press the subject further. Instead, she changed the topic.

“Ms. Charlton, I know tonight’s incident must have left you upset. That’s on us. But as for the partnership, I still want to make a case for it.”

Anne snorted at that.

“You two spun me around like a fool, and now you still expect me to sign a contract with you? Do you really think that’s appropriate?”
