Chapter 756

"So is that the reason you're always so hostile each time you see me?"

"Not entirely. I just think that it's not worth it for Rachel to give up her career, come back here, and spend so much time and effort on your affairs."

Jerry thought that someone with Tyler's background would never allow him to be so audacious with his words.

Yet, Tyler didn't look angry at all. Conversely, his reaction seemed a little exaggerated.

He crossed his arms as he turned his incisive gaze toward Jerry, who looked young and inexperienced with the world in comparison.

"Alright, then tell me. If it were you, what would you do when Rachel met with a crisis twice?"

His question somehow triggered Jerry to eagerly share his views.

"If it were me, I'd break Howard's legs and make him realize that no matter how rich and powerful he is in Yurelia City, it means nothing to me."

Tyler wasn't surprised by Jerry's answer, which was very much in line with his character. Men as young as he were prone to being rash.

"Alright, let's assume you broke Howard's legs. No matter the method, you'll certainly have to go to jail. It's fine if you don't have any family, but do you know what would happen if you did, given the Zieglers' typical way of dealing with things? Your family will be implicated, and they will face undeserved and unexpected disaster. Of course, this is just a part of the reason. There's also what happened tonight. You'd have gone to jail after injuring Howard. I'd like to know how you plan on dealing with Rachel's problem tonight."

Tyler's words fell like a hammer on Jerry's heart.

His initial confidence was wiped away, and the light in his eyes dimmed.

He hadn't thought about the consequences. All he wanted to do was teach anyone who hurt Rachel a lesson.

Tyler's words made Jerry ponder. He wasn't an unreasonable person, after all.

"I'm sorry. I admit that I didn't think through this enough. Your approach might be better than mine, but she still ended up hurt."

Jerry wanted Rachel to come out unscathed and have a life that truly belonged to her.

This time, Tyler failed to hold back his laughter.

"Can we not talk about such impractical things? You know clearly that's impossible! The most we can do is to prevent her from getting hurt as much as possible. If you want her not to get hurt at all, you'll have to keep her locked up at home. Given what you know of her, do you think she'll be willing to be like a bird locked up in a cage?"

Jerry fell silent.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Hunt. I was too stubborn earlier, but I now see that I haven't thought through this as much as you have."

Tyler patted Jerry's shoulder. "Don't worry, I won't spare a single person who hurt her. Don't panic."

Jerry never felt something like this before, but he suddenly realized the distance between him and Tyler.

At that moment, realization dawned upon him.

"Mr. Hunt, are you serious with Rachel? Or do you just feel that your relationship with her is novel and exciting?"
