“I didn’t expect Ms. Lloyd to put her life at risk just to save me. That fact alone made me rethink whether she really was as bad as Sheryn described her to be.”

Sheryn, panicky and fearful, hurriedly interrupted Anne. “How long have you known her? It’s only been a few days! Don’t be fooled by her!”

Compared to her, Anne was very clear-headed and calm.

“I admit that I still had my doubts toward Ms. Lloyd just now, but when you tried to shift all the blame to me, it strengthened my faith in my own judgment. She’s a good woman, but you’ve never treated me as a friend since the beginning. You’re just using me.”

Sheryn no longer cared about what Anne thought of her. Indeed, Anne was just a pawn in her eyes, a tool she needed to ruin Rachel.

Rachel didn’t expect Tyler to be so resolute. She looked at him in shock, but slowly regained her composure.

Why did she call Tyler? She could very well have called the police herself.

She had done it considering Tyler’s relationship with Sheryn. She knew that Sheryn’s mother had helped him out a lot. If he had such considerations and she acted without consulting him, it would be very disrespectful of her.

Thus, Rachel chose to give Tyler the right to decide.

She would agree to whatever decision he made.

She saw this as her way to repay his willingness to give up LS Enterprise for her sake. This wasn’t something anyone could just do.

She selfishly thought that if Tyler asked her to give up on her career, which she had painstakingly built up in favor of going to a foreign city with him to start things anew, she probably wouldn’t agree to it.

She wasn’t the kind of woman who would give up on her career in pursuit of love. After all, that was something she had done before.

Now, she knew clearly that she had to learn to love herself before she could love another.

Anne and Sheryn never expected Tyler to really call the police, and they both turned to look at him in shock.

Sheryn’s lips were trembling, and she stammered in disbelief, “Tyler, you… Are you actually calling the police? Are you really bent on cutting ties with us just for this woman? You don’t even want your family?”
