Chapter 777
They were his family, and it was hard for him to cut ties with them. To ask Tyler to give up on something like that was a difficult request.
Yet, he did exactly that and extricated himself from that mess.
That was what Rachel admired the most. Not everyone was capable of doing that.
Tyler could understand Rachelโs thinking and respected her for it. He rubbed her shoulders affectionately.
โI can understand. Donโt worry.โ
Rachelโs furrowed brows finally unravelled. She could feel the barriers of her heart lowering. She leaned into his embrace and wrapped her arms around his waist. Taking in his scent always had the effect of calming her.
A moment later, Yale walked in. This time, he was very careful not to interrupt them and instead turned around to leave.
To his surprise, Rachel called out to him.
โYale.โ
Yale stopped in his tracks and turned to face Rachel. Given what had happened before, he took the initiative to explain himself. โI didnโt mean to interrupt.โ
Rachel smiled. โI know, itโs fine. I just wanted to ask, have you booked the flight tickets?โ
โYes, I have. But not for Ms. Charlton. I donโt have her identity documents.โ
Tyler turned around, too. โDonโt bother booking a ticket for her. She probably wonโt be able to make it back in the short term.โ
โYes, Mr. Hunt.โ
Yale could guess what had happened. He walked toward them.
โMr. Hunt, I have something to say. When I looked into Sawyer before, I had my doubts about Ms. Charlton. But everything happened in such a rush, I didnโt have time to tell you about it.
โNow that I think about it, there are clues. Someone often came knocking on Ms. Charltonโs door at night. I checked the surveillance footage, but sheโs always very secretive. I also noticed that itโs a woman, but I didnโt put two and two together.โ
Tylerโs eyes dimmed, his voice turning menacing as he said, โWhat did I tell you? No matter what, you have to report to me if you received any new information!โ
The air in the corridor froze as Yale stiffened. His hands, holding a folder, started trembling as he saw Tylerโs jawline tensing.
โIโm sorry, Mr. Hunt! This was my fault! Iโll write a reflection report on this once I return to the office.โ
โScram!โ
Tylerโs yell sent Yale scrambling out of the corridor.
Rachel seldom saw Tyler flare up so badly, although he usually had a bad temper.
She said comfortingly, โDonโt blame him. He has so much on his hands; itโs understandable that he didnโt have the capacity to look into such details.โ
Tyler rubbed his nose bridge, fatigue in his eyes.
โYou should know how serious this is. If we didnโt find out the truth, itโd bring huge trouble on us in the time to come.โ
His brows furrowed as he tried to explain the severity of the situation to Rachel.
โThink about it. Our ignorance of the truth behind Anne and Sheryn is akin to having a ticking time bomb by our side. Just imagine how bad itโd be when this bomb explodes.โ
Tyler was worried about nothing except risking Rachelโs life. He would regret that mistake for his entire life. Rachel finally realized why Tyler had blown his top over this. He was worried about her.
He was worried that if this secret hadnโt been divulged, it might bring disaster upon them. He would blame himself for it.
Rachel patted his shoulder comfortingly.
