Chapter 801
Sunnyโs eyes instantly perked up the moment she saw Rachel. Her big, glistening eyes fixed on Rachel with deep affection.
Only people who have raised dogs would understand. That gaze held a tenderness beyond anything else, as if the whole world had vanished and only she remained.
Sunny bounded toward Rachel, who quickly caught her in her arms. Excited, Sunny pawed playfully at Rachelโs chest.
โSunny, have you been doing well? Did you miss me?โ Rachel asked.
Sunny barked twice, as if answering her.
Rachel beamed with joy.
Tyler walked in from behind. โWell, arenโt you happy?โ
Rachel stood up and looked at him. โWhen did you bring her back?โ
โYesterday. Iโd already been making arrangements earlier, but since it was such a long trip, I was worried the dog might get stressed out. The distance is no joke. They did all sorts of tests over there first to make sure she could handle a longโhaul flight before I had her flown over.โ
Rachel felt truly grateful.
โThis dog and I have a special bond. Back when I was overseas, she even saved my life once. Thatโs why I decided to adopt her.โ
Leaning against the doorframe, Tyler asked, โSo you decided to bring Sunny back because of Ray?โ
โYeah. Honestly, I didnโt like dogs before. But Ray changed my mind. I realized dogs could be adorable.โ
As she spoke, Rachel pulled Sunny into her arms again. Sunnyโs fur brushed against her cheek and tickled her skin.
Sunny wagged her tail and snuggled against Rachel. The blue bell Rachel had tied to her collar before leaving still dangled there.
Since Ray was brought up, Rachel grew uneasy.
โRay and Sunny are different breeds. Do you think theyโll get along? Iโm just afraid Ray might bully her.โ
Tyler asked, โSunnyโs a female, right?โ
โYeah. When I first adopted her, I didnโt even realize it. Later on, I found out female dogs could be a hassle. My coworker used to take her out for walks, and random male dogs would just run up to her out of nowhere. I had such a hard time shooing them away on every occasion. I even thought about getting her spayed.โ
โThen you can stop worrying. Rayโs a male dog. Theyโre a perfect match. Theyโll be fine together. You donโt need to stress about that at all.โ
Just then, Ray darted past Tylerโs legs and trotted up to Sunny. Rachel watched closely at first, since she was still a little worried.
She crouched down and gently coaxed Ray.
โRay, this is my dog. Her name is Sunny. Sheโs very gentle. Donโt you dare bully her!โ
Tyler pulled Rachel upright. โRelax. Rayโs not an aggressive dog. Havenโt you heard? Opposites attract. Who knows, maybe Ray will fall for Sunny at first sight.โ
Rachelโs eyes lit up when she heard that.
โOf course. Sunnyโs gorgeous, isnโt she? Look at those eyes, so bright and round. She really has a special quality about her, even if sheโs just an ordinary breed.โ
โYeah. When I first saw her, I was surprised too. I worried she might be aggressive. But after I talked to her for a bit, she hopped right into the car. Guess she knew she was coming to see you,โ Tyler said.
Rachel sounded a little surprised. โReally?โ
โYeah. Otherwise, how do you think I managed to bring her here?โ
