Listen to this chapter:

Even Jim didnโ€™t know about it. How did Rachel know? Did she send someone to spy on Yvette? That must be it!

Yvette refused to admit the truth. Her voice a pitch higher, she screeched, โ€œWhat nonsense are you spouting? I say, Rachel, William probably dumped you! Thatโ€™s why he isnโ€™t with you this time, when he used to come with you every time you come here.โ€ Yvette covered her mouth as she cackled. โ€œI know! Heโ€™s probably with his childhood sweetheart. Why shouldnโ€™t he be? Should he keep you, a pitiful deaf woman, company instead? Bringing you out would be embarrassing for sure!โ€

Rachelโ€™s brows furrowed irritablyโ€”she looked visibly upset by Yvetteโ€™s jab. This was precisely the reason she usually preferred to avoid coming home.

She slowly approached Yvette and looked down at her, the disdainful look in her eyes striking fear in Yvetteโ€™s heart. Rachel held Yvetteโ€™s chin with her fingers, her gaze sending chills down Yvetteโ€™s spine. Yvetteโ€™s eyes widened as she stuttered, โ€œWhatโ€ฆwhat do you want? This is the Lloyd household, not a place you can just run wild!โ€ "I just want to remind you that dignity is earned, not given by others. If you continue living with a heart embittered by jealousy, thinking that your past was caused by me, I advise you to run back to where you came from. Otherwise, others in high society will degrade you anyway, and you might end up embarrassing the Lloyd family,โ€ Rachel sneered. With that, she shook Yvette away, who stumbled a few steps back in her heels and almost fell again.

Yvette glared at Rachel, hatred in her eyes, but she didnโ€™t dare cause any more trouble. This damn woman! She was no longer the legitimate daughter of the Lloyd family, yet she continued acting like she was all that. How dare she behave so arrogantly, even when her husband was fooling around with another woman!

Rachel was about to leave the house when Sasha suddenly stared at the staircase and greeted respectfully, โ€œDad!โ€ Rachelโ€™s back stiffened. Gerald Lloyd was making his way down the stairs slowly, his eyes narrowed and intimidating, exuding a sense of authority. His gaze swept across the living room before finally landing on Rachel. Rachel had no choice but to stay. Out of basic courtesy, she couldnโ€™t just leave right there and then. She turned around and calmly greeted him, โ€œGrandpa.โ€ โ€œBack here to visit?โ€ โ€œYes.โ€ Gerald made his way down and pointed at the couch with his cane. โ€œSit. I have something to talk to you about.โ€

A bad feeling washed over Rachel. Her grandfather had never made her stay to talk to her. Left with no choice, she returned to the couch and sat down. โ€œI heard that the rights to manage Project Oasis are now in Tylerโ€™s hands?โ€ โ€œYes,โ€ she responded with a nod. โ€œThat means youโ€™ll soon be working with LS Enterprise?โ€ โ€œYes.โ€ Gerald nodded pensively. โ€œRachel, you know it hasnโ€™t been easy raising you over the years. Itโ€™s time for you to return our kindness.โ€

Rachel found the topic suffocating. She looked back at Gerald, her eyes sombre. โ€œGrandpa, what do you mean by that?โ€
