Chapter 863
Tyler and Rachel found out from the police that it was Elias who alerted them. Without Elias' help, the police wouldnโt have been able to appear in such a short time.
As they sat on a plane back to Yurelia City, Rachel thanked Elias once more.
โDr. Elias, thank you so much this time. How did you know we were abducted?โ
Elias looked to be in much better spirits, probably because he was finally out and about under the sun after so long. Rachel admired him for that.
Normal people probably wouldnโt be able to tolerate staying at home and never seeing the light of day for just one month. She wondered how Elias was able to do that for so many years.
Aside from his psychological issues, he was perfectly fine physically.
Elias chuckled.
โI have security cameras installed outside my place. Itโs not to guard against people like you, but because of cyberbullying and paparazzi. They donโt appear as much nowadays, but uninstalling the cameras was a hassle, and I just left them be.
โWhen you guys were taken away, my dog sensed the commotion and started barking wildly. I took a look at the camera footage. The expression on the manโs face didnโt seem right when he talked to you.โ
Rachel heaved a sigh of relief at Elias' recounting.
โDr. Elias, thank you so much for being alert. If it werenโt for youโฆโ
โDonโt mention it. Consider it a thank you from me to you for making me leave my depressing life.โ
The moment Elias stepped out of his house, he could feel the sun on his face, something he hadnโt felt for a long while. The brightness chased away the gloom that he hadnโt realized surrounded him.
Rachel was happy for him from the bottom of her heart.
โThatโs great. As long as youโre fine with that. Dr. Elias, one single mistake doesnโt define your life. There are still many possibilities in store for you in life. Donโt ever trap yourself in that misery again."
Rachelโs words seemed to lift the veil from his eyes.
Soon, the plane safely landed in Yurelia City.
The moment they landed, Tyler received a call. Rachel didnโt hear clearly what the caller said, but she could sense a change in Tylerโs face that looked like bad news.
The sullen look remained on his face even after he hung up. Rachel approached him and asked, "What happened? Is it Ceciliaโฆโ
โNothing to do with Cecilia. Itโs Mr. Ziegler. He found out that Howard was nabbed and would probably be convicted. His blood pressure rose so quickly that he had a stroke. He was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment, but he passed away there.โ
Rachelโs face fell as well.
Jerry was worried that Rachel might blame herself for it and hurriedly said, โRachel, this has nothing to do with you. You shouldnโt feel burdened by it in any way. If it werenโt for Howard digging his own grave and insisting on kidnapping you, he wouldnโt have ended up like this.โ
Rachel rubbed her face, exhausted, and tried to compose herself.
โJerry, take Dr. Elias to the hotel and settle him down. Iโll bring Cecilia tomorrow. I need to go to the Zieglersโ residence with Tyler.โ
No matter what, they had to check things out for themselves.
Jerry furrowed his brows; he didnโt approve of Rachelโs idea.
โI really think you shouldnโt go. The Zieglers probably hate you two to the bone. Wouldnโt you be entering the lionโs den?โ
He could just imagine the chaos that would ensue.
