Tyler didn’t dare to tell Thomas that Rachel had visited the Zieglers once and had angered Steven so much that he ended up hospitalized.

Thomas sighed. “I don’t have anything against Steven, really. The main thing was your conflict with his son. You two have been at loggerheads with each other. We old fogeys don’t even know what to do about it. What a pity! I’m hospitalized and can’t see him off.”

“Don’t worry, I’ve paid my respects on your behalf. The Zieglers made sure the funeral proceedings went well. He passed on peacefully,” Tyler said.

Thomas naturally knew that Tyler was just saying that to comfort him. Whatever it was, he knew there was no point pursuing the matter since Steven had passed on.

His gaze landed back on Tyler.

“Let me ask you this. You’ve been with Rachel for so long. What are your plans? If you’re serious about her, hurry up and get married while I’m still alive.”

Tyler wasn’t the one most shocked by Thomas’ words. Instead, it was William.

William looked at Thomas in shock and yelled, “Grandpa, have you lost your mind?! How could you let Tyler be with Rachel? She and I were…”

“I know she’s your ex-wife, but you two are divorced, and very few people know that Tyler is part of our family. You don’t need to worry about the rumors. On the other hand, you should lend Tyler a helping hand with his company, since you’re doing well managing the company right now.”

William was dumbfounded by the turn of events. Not only was his grandfather asking him to let Rachel marry Tyler, but the old man was even requesting him to help Tyler deal with his company crisis.

It had been tough on William to grow the company to where it was today. Yet now, Thomas was asking him to help Tyler out.

Why should he?

“Grandpa, you’re being biased. You clearly know that I still have feelings for Rachel and have been looking for a chance to reconcile with her. If you agree to them marrying, you’re dashing all of my hopes to be with her again,” William said reluctantly.

Thomas scoffed.

“The nerve of you to want to reconcile with her! I warned you before to cut things off with Samantha, and what did you tell me back then? You told me that it was true love between you two.

“If Samantha hadn’t gone overseas for further studies, you two wouldn’t have separated. When she came back looking for you, you said that the heavens were giving you another chance.

“In the end, Rachel left you. And then, you started missing her. This is a classic case of thinking that the grass is always greener on the other side. You didn’t treasure Rachel while she was with you, but when she was gone, you started missing her.”

The mere mention of William’s past made Thomas feel so embarrassed for him.

“Are you going to start missing Samantha after divorcing her?” Thomas added.

Tyler had a strong urge to clap for Thomas. “You really hit the nail on the head, old man.”

William was rendered speechless by Thomas’ sharp remarks, but he stubbornly insisted, “Telling me all this is useless! I still have feelings for Rachel, and you can’t change that!”

With that, William turned to flee from the room, not daring to see Tyler’s face.
