Chapter 901

Rachel took a deep breath, brought the pork to Tylerโ€™s mouth, and whispered, โ€œHโ€“Honey.โ€

Tyler seemed satisfied. He pinched her cheek.

โ€œYouโ€™re the best, honey. Eat up.โ€

Rachel barely had an appetite. Her cheeks felt like they might burst into flames. Still, she noticed the crowd had stopped staring. Puzzled, she looked up at Tyler.

โ€œHow did you know that the moment I called you honey, theyโ€™d stop looking?โ€

โ€œOnce everyone knows weโ€™re legally married, they donโ€™t have a chance, no matter what they think.โ€

Only then did Rachel catch Tylerโ€™s real intention. She scoffed.

โ€œOf course. Youโ€™re as cunning as ever.โ€

She wasnโ€™t going to win this one.

After eating the pork, Tyler leaned back in a relaxed manner.

โ€œAlright, should we go over your little secret now?โ€

Rachel paused mid-bite. She realized he was ready to settle things. He had been holding back since they were at the cafe and was finally going to confront her.

She put down her fork and came clean.

โ€œI did hide it from you. I didnโ€™t actually go to Ceciliaโ€™s place. She was just covering for me.โ€

Tyler smiled. He gently smacked the table with his palm.

โ€œOkay. Youโ€™re honest enough. But do you know why you didnโ€™t get exposed sooner and why you managed to keep this from me so long?โ€

Rachel blinked. โ€œI donโ€™t.โ€

Tyler explained the phone call with Cecilia. Rachel realized that if Yale hadnโ€™t gone to Tyler with something urgent, he wouldโ€™ve found out right away.

She sighed and rubbed her forehead. She had planned everything except that Tyler might turn up at this meeting.

Fate, apparently, had other ideas.

She couldnโ€™t help but ask, โ€œHow did you even know Chris? I donโ€™t think he had any ties to your company.โ€

โ€œHe didnโ€™t, but Jason knows his boss.โ€

Now, everything made sense. The whole thing really did feel fated.

Tyler drummed his knuckles on the table and said, โ€œSo can you tell me honestly why you hid the fact you were still working? I already told you. You donโ€™t have to worry about that remaining 150 million. Iโ€™ll figure something out. You donโ€™t need to be out there working.โ€

Rachelโ€™s gaze turned dim.

โ€œI know what you mean, and I see how hard youโ€™re trying to cover that 150 million, but I donโ€™t want you to suffer because of me. Canโ€™t you understand that? Besides, this is my problem too. I donโ€™t want you to shoulder it alone. Even if the projects I bring in arenโ€™t huge, at least Iโ€™m doing something. Iโ€™m with you, not just relying on you. Do you get that?โ€

Rachel knew she wasnโ€™t helping much, but at least she was trying.

โ€œI get where youโ€™re coming from, but if you keep doing this, itโ€™ll tear me up. Okay, weโ€™ll compromise. I wonโ€™t stop you from working, but you have to promise me you wonโ€™t push yourself so hard. Do it only if it wonโ€™t exhaust you,โ€ Tyler said.
