Chapter 901
Rachel took a deep breath, brought the pork to Tylerโs mouth, and whispered, โHโHoney.โ
Tyler seemed satisfied. He pinched her cheek.
โYouโre the best, honey. Eat up.โ
Rachel barely had an appetite. Her cheeks felt like they might burst into flames. Still, she noticed the crowd had stopped staring. Puzzled, she looked up at Tyler.
โHow did you know that the moment I called you honey, theyโd stop looking?โ
โOnce everyone knows weโre legally married, they donโt have a chance, no matter what they think.โ
Only then did Rachel catch Tylerโs real intention. She scoffed.
โOf course. Youโre as cunning as ever.โ
She wasnโt going to win this one.
After eating the pork, Tyler leaned back in a relaxed manner.
โAlright, should we go over your little secret now?โ
Rachel paused mid-bite. She realized he was ready to settle things. He had been holding back since they were at the cafe and was finally going to confront her.
She put down her fork and came clean.
โI did hide it from you. I didnโt actually go to Ceciliaโs place. She was just covering for me.โ
Tyler smiled. He gently smacked the table with his palm.
โOkay. Youโre honest enough. But do you know why you didnโt get exposed sooner and why you managed to keep this from me so long?โ
Rachel blinked. โI donโt.โ
Tyler explained the phone call with Cecilia. Rachel realized that if Yale hadnโt gone to Tyler with something urgent, he wouldโve found out right away.
She sighed and rubbed her forehead. She had planned everything except that Tyler might turn up at this meeting.
Fate, apparently, had other ideas.
She couldnโt help but ask, โHow did you even know Chris? I donโt think he had any ties to your company.โ
โHe didnโt, but Jason knows his boss.โ
Now, everything made sense. The whole thing really did feel fated.
Tyler drummed his knuckles on the table and said, โSo can you tell me honestly why you hid the fact you were still working? I already told you. You donโt have to worry about that remaining 150 million. Iโll figure something out. You donโt need to be out there working.โ
Rachelโs gaze turned dim.
โI know what you mean, and I see how hard youโre trying to cover that 150 million, but I donโt want you to suffer because of me. Canโt you understand that? Besides, this is my problem too. I donโt want you to shoulder it alone. Even if the projects I bring in arenโt huge, at least Iโm doing something. Iโm with you, not just relying on you. Do you get that?โ
Rachel knew she wasnโt helping much, but at least she was trying.
โI get where youโre coming from, but if you keep doing this, itโll tear me up. Okay, weโll compromise. I wonโt stop you from working, but you have to promise me you wonโt push yourself so hard. Do it only if it wonโt exhaust you,โ Tyler said.
