Chapter 100: Coincidence
Felix cut the cake into four slices. "I'm paying for dinner tonight—consider it my birthday gift. I've already booked a table at The Vista." The Vista was the town's fanciest restaurant.
Bella considered this. "I don't know. It's my birthday, so I should pay. But since you've already made the reservation, let's go."
Lia's eyes widened. "I'm really looking forward to trying The Vista! I've heard the food is amazing."
After a quick slice of cake, they headed to The Vista in Felix's car.
Felix looked apologetic. "I tried to get a private room, but they were all booked. I only managed to get a table by the window. It might not be private, but the view is great." Even in a restaurant like this, whether in a private room or the main dining area, it was usually quiet. People who preferred private rooms often valued their privacy.
Once seated, Bella handed the menus to her friends. "Order whatever you like. Don't worry about the price. I'm not extravagant; a single meal is nothing." Lia looked at the menu and whispered, "Wow, this is pricey… One dish here could cover a whole meal elsewhere. I'll just get one dish."
The waiter's irritation was evident.
Felix noticed and frowned. He took the menu from Lia and ordered the dishes she'd hesitated over. "Done."
Lia didn't protest. With Felix ordering, she remained quiet.
Bella knew Felix didn't want her to pay, so she planned to discreetly settle the bill herself later.
Lia quickly forgot the expensive menu and began looking around. "Hey, isn't that the guy we saw at Dominic's house? The really handsome one?" Bella followed Lia's gaze to Leonard.
Leonard sat alone at his table, fiddling with his phone and checking his watch. He seemed to be waiting for someone.
Bella worried. Was Leonard waiting for Dominic? It seemed too much of a coincidence.
Her worry was confirmed when Dominic and Amber entered twenty minutes later, looking like the perfect couple. Bella had a clear view of the entrance, and seeing Amber's arm linked with Dominic's made her heart ache.
Lia continued eating happily, but Bella lost her appetite. [Remove the promotional text here.]
Felix noticed Dominic and said quietly, "I picked this place without checking with you. It's a bit awkward with them here."
Bella forced a smile. "It's okay. The food is good."
Lia looked up, confused. "What's going on?"
Bella didn't want to explain, so Felix gestured toward Leonard and Dominic's table.
Lia's face fell. "Oh great. We came here to celebrate your birthday, and now we have to deal with them?"
