Chapter 103: Pulling Hair
Bella, never one to forgive and forget, was determined to get even with Amber. With a calm, calculating expression, she turned to Dominic and asked, "When can I go home? I left willingly, but later you implied I shouldn't return. Now, with Amber here, I'm clearly in the way, right?"
Dominic, missing her subtle shift in demeanor, considered for a moment before replying, "She won't be in the country much longer. I never insisted you move out; you chose to, and that saved me the trouble of dealing with your being bullied without even complaining."
Bella stated matter-of-factly, "She did try to bully me, but it backfired. I slapped her."
He glanced at her but remained silent, giving Bella the unsettling impression that he approved of her actions.
Meanwhile, Amber, restless, attempted to leave Leonard's car, but he restrained her.
Sensing her opportunity, Bella leaned closer to Dominic and, feigning affection, whispered, "I left in such a hurry I didn't bring my clothes. I can borrow outerwear from Lia, but what about underwear? I haven't had time to shop. Could you drop some off? I'd rather not run into Amber."
Dominic stiffened slightly but didn't rebuke her as she expected. Instead, he awkwardly replied, "Got it. I'll drop you off at Lia's."
Bella smiled provocatively at Amber. "No need. I'll take a cab."
With that, she opened the car door, exited, and walked toward the roadside.
Amber, no longer able to contain herself, stormed out of Leonard's car and confronted Bella. "What did you say to him? Did you complain about me?"
Bella responded coolly, "I didn't need to. I wasn't the one slapped. What's there to complain about? You're the one living with him. Why are you so insecure? Try having some confidence. Don't be so jealous of a 'commoner' like me." She then used the opportunity to take revenge on Lia as well. Amber seethed, almost ready to pull Bella's hair out.
Just then, a cab arrived, and Lia emerged. Seeing the confrontation, she declared, "I knew it! Good thing I came back! Amber, what do you think you're doing? Do you want another slap?"
Amber, wary of Dominic's proximity, chose to maintain some semblance of dignity. Restraining her rage, she hissed, "You're overreacting. I don't have time for you two. Even breathing the same air feels disgusting." She then turned toward Dominic's car.
Lia glanced at Bella, rolled up her sleeves, and before Bella could react, charged at Amber. "If the air disgusts you, stop breathing! I've lived in Joville for over twenty years. You don't deserve the air here! How dare you harass Bella at the hospital? I've had enough of you!"
Taken aback, Amber was shoved to the ground. After a moment of shock, she scrambled up and grabbed Lia's hair. "Are you crazy?"
Lia, refusing to back down, retaliated. "You're not the only one who can pull hair!"
Both men immediately intervened to break up the fight. Dominic positioned himself between Bella and the fray, signaling her to stay out of it. Leonard separated the women and stood between them, facing Lia. "Let's not do this here. Fighting in the street isn't a good look."
