Chapter 114: Why Aren't You Wearing What I Gave You?
Nella pulled her phone from her bag and checked to ensure it was still switched off before walking up to him. "What are you doing here?"
She had found herself asking this question more frequently lately due to his unexpected appearances, which seemed to indicate he was constantly watching her.
Dominic didn't respond. He glanced at her briefly and gestured for her to get in the car.
She opened the door and sat down, nervously rubbing her hands together. She hated the instinctive cautiousness she'd developed—being so careful about something as simple as this—so she didn't explain.
Dominic's gaze darkened when he noticed the bracelet on her wrist. "Why aren't you wearing the necklace I gave you?"
She bit her lip. "It's too expensive. I'm afraid I'll lose it."
His voice was coldly harsh. "That bracelet isn't cheap either."
She instinctively covered the bracelet with her hand. "I can see the bracelet on my wrist, so I'm less worried about losing it… Are you just passing by?"
Dominic tilted his head toward the window, motioning outside. "Did you forget where the Miller Group is located?"
Then Bella realized the Miller Group building was right across the street from the restaurant. After all these years, she had only been to the Miller Group once, and that was with Richard. She hadn't even gone upstairs, so it made sense that she would forget. She hadn't expected the restaurant she'd randomly chosen to be across from his office. So, had she just happened to bump into him after he got off work?
They didn't speak again until they reached Miller Manor.
After her shower, she sat on the bed and turned her phone back on. She saw a message from Lia, ranting about her mother pressuring her into a blind date. Just as she was about to reply, Sylvia knocked on the door.
Bella walked over and opened it. Sylvia stood there holding freshly laundered clothes. "I brought you your clean clothes."
She smiled and thanked Sylvia as Sylvia entered the room to sort the clothes into the closet.
Suddenly, Bella noticed something odd—a pair of white lace underwear mixed in with the clothes. Her heart sank. "Sylvia, whose underwear is that? It's not mine."
Sylvia held up the lacy underwear, looking puzzled. "It's not yours? You're the only young woman in the house… Who else could it be? Besides, it was with the clothes from Mr. Miller's room in his laundry basket." Bella immediately thought of Amber. It was hard to believe nothing had happened between them if that underwear had been mixed with Dominic's clothes. The child Amber was carrying suddenly seemed more questionable as well. Complicated emotions surged within Bella, but she forced herself to stay calm. "It's probably something Amber left behind when she stayed here. I always wash and hang my underwear. I don't hand it over to anyone else."
"Just give it to Dominic and tell him it's something Amber forgot. It wouldn't be appropriate just to throw it away."
Sylvia looked even more confused. "Ms. Jones, aren't you and Mr. Miller… together? And who exactly is Ms. Yates, who stayed here for a while?"
Bella didn't know how to answer that. Seeing her expression change, Sylvia quickly backtracked, realizing she had crossed a line. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry. In this line of work, we shouldn't meddle in the family's affairs. Don't worry, I won't say anything. So, should I take this underwear to Mr. Miller?"
Bella replied with a simple nod and then lay down on the bed, her thoughts a jumbled mess.
Sylvia quietly shut the door and took the underwear to Dominic's room. No matter how old or young a woman might be, there was always a certain embarrassment when dealing with such things in front of a man.
Dominic saw Sylvia and stared. "This belongs to Ms. Yates. Ms. Jones asked me to bring it to you…"
His expression instantly darkened when he saw what was in her hand. "Where did this come from? Why are you giving this to me?"
