Chapter 128: Do Not Test Me

Bella hung up the phone, instantly wide awake. She changed clothes and drove off. She hadn't expected Dominic to take his anger out on his employees instead of Leonard and Ian. Oscar, an honest child, had likely been caught in the crossfire.

By the time she arrived at the bar, Lia had already brought Oscar outside. Bella parked her car. Leonard was supporting Dominic at the roadside. Seeing Leonard, Bella regretted coming. Given Dominic and Leonard's relationship, she needn't have worried about Dominic's whereabouts.

She went straight to Lia and asked softly, "Isn't Leonard here? Why did you call me?"

Lia, exhausted and drenched in sweat from keeping Oscar upright, said, "Leonard wasn't here when I called. He just arrived. Can you believe it? Those two grown men were leaning on me for support! I was nearly crushed! I suspect they've been taking steroids!"

Lia never minced words. Bella laughed. "You should take Oscar home. I'll check on Dominic."

Lia immediately put Oscar in her car and left.

Bella approached Dominic and Leonard. "So, what's the plan?"

Leonard looked away from where Lia had gone and said impassively, "You'll take him. It's lucky I came to check things." Bella looked at the bar. "Do you own this place?"

Leonard nodded. "I'll help you get him in your car."

Dominic seemed asleep, unmoving, making things easier. Bella waved goodbye to Leonard. "I'll go then." Leonard nodded, his mood sour. He abruptly asked, "How far has Lia's relationship with Oscar progressed?"

Bella was surprised. "They're…holding hands, I guess. Why ask? Are you seeking revenge?"

Leonard coughed. "I just think Oscar's too good for her. Few can tolerate her attitude. Revenge is unnecessary. You can go now."

Bella laughed. "Lia told me to apologize for the incident with the order."

Leonard didn't respond.

Bella didn't dwell on it and drove Dominic back to Miller Manor. She drove slowly; her car was expensive enough that other drivers wouldn't mind. After parking, she got out to help Dominic. Only then did she realize he'd woken up. He was wide awake and appeared completely sober.

Having seen him drunk before, Bella was nervous. "Are you alright? Can you walk?"

Dominic remained silent.

Assuming he wasn't sober, Bella offered her hand. "Come on. I'll get you to bed. It's late. Don't make a fuss."

Dominic ignored her and got out himself, though his steps were unsteady. Bella helped him, saying, "Slow down."

Suddenly, he wrapped his arms around her waist, a dangerous glint in his eyes. "Don't test me."

Bella's heart sank. She quietly let go.

Dominic went into the house, leaving her behind. When Bella entered, he was lying on the couch by the door, looking ill and unwilling to move.
