Chapter 142: I'm Not in a Rush

Dominic took a deep breath before looking away. His voice was slightly husky when he spoke. "Why are you just standing there? Come over here."

Bella bit her lip. "You can bathe first. I'm not in a rush to go out, so I don't need to shower now. You don't have to worry about me."

By the time Bella left the bathroom, Dominic had already gone out.

It was raining heavily outside, accompanied by loud thunder and lightning. The storm seemed determined to cause damage.

Bella usually plugged in her earphones and listened to music during thunderstorms. However, around 10:00 p.m., Lia sent her a photo: Dominic and Amber entering a hotel.

The photo was slightly blurry, taken hastily, but Bella immediately recognized Dominic. He had haunted her dreams for years. Even a photo of his back was unmistakable. The hotel was near Lia's office, so Bella didn't doubt the photo's authenticity. She tried to calm herself, turning up the music and forcing herself back to sleep. But the music couldn't drown out the storm, just as pretending to sleep couldn't hide her disappointment. Dominic had undoubtedly rushed out after a call from Amber.

The bedroom door suddenly swung open. Bella sat up instinctively, only to see Pudding by the door. She hadn't expected Pudding to be smart enough to open doors. The dog stood upright, its front paws on the doorknob. Hence, the door opened.

However, Pudding didn't come in. It sat by the door, looking at Bella expectantly with dark eyes.

Bella smiled in exasperation. "You can come in and sleep here. Are you also afraid of thunder?"

Pudding immediately scampered happily to the edge of her bed and lay on the rug. It closed its eyes, seemingly at peace.

Weirdly enough, Bella also fell asleep soon after Pudding entered her room. However, she had a nightmare halfway through the night. She felt like a mountain's weight was crushing her chest, making it hard to breathe.
