Chapter 28: I Bet You'll Die

It was Leonard. The troublemakers stood up and closed in on him. Seeing the situation worsen, Bella rushed forward, placing herself in front of Leonard to block the group.

"Don't do anything stupid!" she shouted. "I'll pay you the money, but if you start a fight and someone gets hurt, you won't get away with it!" Leonard seemed unconcerned by the men. He looked amused as he regarded Bella, who was clearly terrified but still trying to protect him. "What are you doing?" he asked. "If I hadn't called you because you were out so late, who knows if you'd still be alive tonight? Step aside, I'll handle this."

Bella thought he'd lost his mind. "There are so many of them! What are you planning to do? Don't you know what they say about places like this? You can't take them on!" Leonard's playful eyes narrowed slightly, giving her a half-smile. "Are you sure about that?"

Before Bella could respond, he pulled her behind him and produced two guns.

The playful expression vanished, replaced by a predator's fierce gaze. He eyed the men like prey.

Bella was so terrified she covered her mouth to stifle a scream. Who on earth was Leonard?

The thugs were initially stunned, then scrambled to hide behind their leader. The leader, staring at the gun barrels, stuttered, trying to maintain a tough-guy facade. "Y-You wouldn't dare! That's just a toy gun, right? Don't try to fool me! I've been around here my whole life. I've never seen someone like you before!"

Leonard's lips curled into a cold smile. "Wanna bet? You think it's a fake? I bet you'll die."

The guns must have been intimidating because, after a moment's hesitation, the group spat a few threats before fleeing.

Once the commotion subsided, Bella's legs gave way, and she collapsed to the floor, pale.

Leonard was surprised. He knelt beside her. "It's not real, it's fake! I was just trying to scare them. How did I end up scaring you too? You weren't afraid of those thugs, but you're scared of this?" Bella's palms were sweaty; she couldn't meet his gaze. She'd thought of him as a rich playboy, but this changed her view entirely. Seeing her disbelief, Leonard nervously scratched his head. "I'm not lying. Do you want to take a closer look?"

Bella quickly shook her head. "No, no, keep it to yourself. I'm going home now. Thanks for saving me!"

It wasn't just the guns; it was his demeanor—he seemed a completely different person.

Chapter 251: Set You'll Die (This seems to be a typo, perhaps meant to be "Settled"?)

Back home, Bella locked herself in her room. She hadn't eaten since morning, and her growling stomach prevented sleep.

Finally, around 1:00 a.m., she went to the kitchen to cook. She tried to be quiet but woke Leonard.

He stood sleepily in the doorway and asked lazily, "Didn't you eat?"

Calmer now, she wasn't as scared. She was starting to believe the guns were fake. What normal person would carry such things? She nodded. "Do you want some?"

Seeing the food, Leonard replied, "Sure, I'll eat a bit. You go ahead, I'm just going outside for a smoke."

Outside, he looked toward the kitchen, pulled out his phone, and dialed a number.

Dominic's cold voice answered. "What's going on?"

Leonard recounted the day's events.

There was a brief silence before Dominic snapped, "Couldn't you handle a few thugs without that?"

Leonard grinned mischievously. "I just found out Bella's a scaredy-cat. I think she probably ran off because she found out the truth about you and got scared."
