Any idea why she locked herself in the abandoned storage room?

"That was stupid," Dominic said.

"She seems smart enough, but her brain isn't all that impressive," Am added.

Bella had just woken up when she overheard Dominic and Am talking. She distinctly heard Dominic call her stupid. Her head was still a little dizzy, and her eyelids felt heavy, but her mind was clear, and her bearing sharp. The familiar smell of disinfectant filled the air. She was in the hospital and had been saved.

She breathed a sigh of relief, and Tan noticed immediately. "Oh, you're awake. Come on, let me take a look."

Bella opened her eyes and slapped Tan's hand away. "Fine, Emmalyn!"

Tan struggled to stifle his laughter. "You heard what we said, right? It's the truth. Come on, tell us, how did you manage to lock yourself in there? If Dominic hadn't come home and noticed you were missing, or if he'd stayed late at work and returned later, you'd be dead."

Bella didn't want to talk; she felt too embarrassed. Even now, thinking about what happened, she felt incredibly scared.

After her IV drip was finished, they left the hospital. It was almost midnight, and Bella felt weak. Her legs trembled, and she was sweating.

Dominic couldn't stand it any longer. He picked her up, visibly annoyed, and said, "You're always causing trouble."

She felt deeply wronged. Who would have thought that door was trying to kill her? They say curiosity killed the cat, but really, it was boredom that caused this.

The more she thought about it, the more she blamed Desi. "If you hadn't locked me in the house, I wouldn't have been so bored, wouldn't have gotten curious about that door, and wouldn't have caused any trouble for you."

Dominic glanced at her and said, "When you're able to walk without stumbling, you can go back to work at the hospital."

Bella's eyes widened in surprise. "You're not going to lock me up anymore?"

He ignored her, shoved her into the car, and drove off. It was the weekend. Dominic didn't go to the office. After breakfast, he dragged Bella around Miller Manor for a tour, focusing especially on the room where she had been locked up. He made sure she got a good look at it. Bella was confused. "What are we doing?"

He sneered at her. "If I don't satisfy your curiosity, I might not find your body the next time you die."

"Curious? It's just a bunch of junk in there. What could possibly interest you?"

Bella felt guilty and spoke in a low voice, "How was I supposed to know it was all junk before I saw it?"

Dominic lit a cigarette and pulled her back. He also instructed someone to remove the door and clear out all the junk from the room.

In the afternoon, Bella woke up from her nap feeling very thirsty. Just as she reached for a glass of ice water, Sylvia snatched it away.

"Your body is still weak. You shouldn't drink anything cold," she said. "I'll make you some tea. I was so scared yesterday. When Mr. Miller found you, you were drenched in sweat, and your face was so pale."

Bella could imagine the scene. "And then what happened?" she asked casually.

Sylvia described it vividly. "Mr. Miller thought you were dead. His hand trembled when he touched you, and when he rushed out with you in his arms, he moved as fast as the wind."

Bella's lips curled up slightly. "How fast is that?"

Sylvia made an exaggerated gesture. "That fast! I couldn't even keep up."

As soon as she finished speaking, Dominic appeared at the kitchen door. "I was afraid she'd die in my house, and I'd have to leave."

Bella rolled her eyes, took the tea Sylvia had made, and walked past him.

"Don't worry, you're three years older than me. If anyone's going to die first, it'll be you."

Dominic's voice suddenly deepened. "I hope so."
