Chapter 207
Even at the dining table, he did not let her go, still holding her in his arms. Ophelia struggled for a moment, wanting to sit to the side by herself, but as soon as she moved, the iron-like arm around her waist tightened, firmly locking her in place.
โDonโt move,โ the man glanced at her with lowered eyes and warned her in a soft voice.
The dishes on the table were very sumptuous, all of which she liked, and it was obvious that Winford had instructed this in advance. He personally scooped a mouthful of porridge and fed it to her mouth.
Opheliaโs lips curled downwards, and she immediately turned her head to the side. Winford paused for a moment and quietly commanded, โOpen your mouth.โ
โI didnโt want it!โ Ophelia said, her voice pitifully hoarse, her eyes even redder, feeling extremely wronged in her heart. She choked on her words softly and said stubbornly, โJust let me starve to death, why do you care about me?โ
โI couldnโt bear to part with it,โ Winford said, as he put down the spoon and wiped away a small trace of water from the corner of her eye with his thumb.
Just four short words made Opheliaโs breath catch; her nose felt sour, tears suddenly fell down in a steady stream. She opened his hand and cried, โYou lied to me, how could you bear toโฆ?โ
โWas Lia angry with me?โ
โI shouldnโt have been angry with you!โ Ophelia raised her head suddenly, her eyes red and tears streaming down her face as she accused him, โYou were completely unreasonable!โ
โHow did I become unreasonable?โ
Ophelia said, โI was wrong to confuse you, and I already apologized to youโฆโ
โHowever, you clearly knew that I did this because I didnโt want you to take risks. I wasnโt doing it for myself; I was just afraid that you would encounter danger if you wentโฆโ
โThe result was that you stillโฆ punished me!โ
The more she spoke, the more she felt indignant and wronged, and she cried even harder. Suddenly, there was a sharp pain in her wrist as it was caught by a tremendous force. The manโs voice was frighteningly cold.
โSo, three days passed, and Lia still didnโt feel that she was wrong, did she?โ
As Ophelia looked up, she was startled by his cold and sinister gaze. She felt even more wronged and a bit angry. She cried out to him, โI was not wrong at all; it was you who were being unreasonable!โ
Before her words had finished, she suddenly disregarded her discomfort, struggled free from him with all her might, and turned to run. She was not wrong in the first place; she was thinking about his safety. How could she be wrong? He not only didnโt appreciate her but alsoโฆ punished her, scared her, and tried to suppress her with a tough attitude!
Ophelia was indeed a bit sad; she ran out of the restaurant quickly without looking back. In an instant, the air pressure in the restaurant dropped suddenly, making it frighteningly cold! The servants around them did not dare to breathe for a moment, and they completely refrained from looking up to see the manโs expression.
The man sat by the dining table, not moving for a long time. He closed his eyes and tried hard to endure, barely managing to suppress the brutality within him. He held back the urge to chase after the person who had run away and teach them a harsh lesson.
โMr. Winfordโฆโ Graham appeared at the door of the dining room and cautiously spoke up. He had just gone to receive his punishment three days ago, and his injuries had not fully healed yet; his face was still pale.
Winford opened his eyes, filled with coldness, and said, โSpeak!โ
Graham asked, โItโs about Elva; how should she handle it?โ
Winfordโs gaze showed no signs of fluctuation as he coldly said, โWas there any need for her to still be alive?โ
Graham was not surprised at all by this answer. Elva always felt good about herself, believing that she was different in the eyes of the Pruitt family and Mr. Winford. However, she could see clearly that in Mr. Winfordโs eyes, she, Elva, held no weight at all!
In the past, it was fine; she hadnโt provoked Mr. Winford, and Mr. Winford had looked down on putting any effort into her. However, now, just considering this incident, what she had caused had actually put Ophelia in danger personallyโฆ Just this alone, Mr. Winford could not possibly let her off the hook!
โHoweverโฆโ
โMr. Winford, Madam Pruitt came by these past few days to plead for Elva,โ Graham said after a momentโs consideration.
