Chapter 229
Ophelia felt a rush of confusion and, before she could react, was suddenly pulled into the man's embrace. At the same time, her chin was forcefully lifted, and an irresistible kiss descended upon her. Ophelia widened her eyes in shock and instinctively wanted to resist. But as soon as she showed a hint of struggle, the man forcefully suppressed her, locking her in his embrace and doing as he pleased.
Fortunately, Winford still had some sense; he didnโt want her most charming side to be seen by others. A few minutes later, he stepped into the house with her in his arms. With a mindset of seeking compensation, Ophelia was exceptionally obedient tonight, causing Winfordโs long-held pride in his self-control to momentarily collapse.
The next morning, there were no classes, and Ophelia slept in and didnโt want to get up. Winford, unusually, also stayed in bed and kept her company. Suddenly, Opheliaโs phone vibrated. She glanced at the man who was still asleep, carefully turned away from his embrace, and reached for her phone from the bedside.
It was a message sent by Lucy.
โLucy: Ophelia, you hadnโt gotten up yet?โ
Lucy: Adalynn asked me to tell you that she wanted to make some kind of bet with you.
Lucy: You said she must have something wrong with her head. Have you ever provoked her? Why does she always come to bother you?
Ophelia frowned and replied directly: โTell her that I had no time, no mood, and not to bother me!โ
After replying, she directly put her phone aside, then carefully turned over and lay back in Winfordโs arms, closing her eyes and intending to continue sleeping.
She indeed had no time; she had to accompany her husband to sleep and had no mind to pay attention to anything related to Adalynn! But she didnโt want to, yet Adalynn had no intention of letting her go.
I hadnโt fallen back asleep yet when my phone started vibrating repeatedly. Ophelia quickly grabbed her phone, turned off the vibration, and then quietly glanced at the man. Seeing that he had not been awakened, she let out a sigh of relief. Then she unhappily opened her phone.
Lucy: Ophelia, Adalynn had tagged you in a big group at the academy; you should go check it out!
The college group was added at the time of enrollment, and Ophelia had long since muted it. After being reminded by Lucy, it took her quite a while to find the group hidden in the corner. Then they discovered that Adalynn had actually joined their college group, not knowing who had added her.
Adalynn: @Ophelia, were you that cowardly? You didnโt even dare to accept a simple bet?
Adalynn: Is this the bet? Are you not agreeing to it?
Adalynn sent a picture. Seeing clearly what picture she had sent, Opheliaโs expression suddenly turned cold. That was her motherโs bracelet!! These relics should have existed in the bank; how did they end up in Adalynnโs hands? Without thinking too much, she knew it definitely had something to do with Bessie!
Adalynn: @Ophelia, half an hour later, by the school lake, letโs meet and talk. If you donโt show up within a minute, I couldnโt guarantee that I wouldnโt accidentally drop something into the lakeโ
Opheliaโs grip on the phone was almost strong enough to crush it. Her mother was her Achillesโ heel, and Adalynn was asking for trouble! She rose from the bed with a cold gaze.
โWhere are you going?โ The wrist was suddenly grabbed.
