Chapter 284

To my surprise, instead of seeing Mr. Winford, I saw three people who should never have been together! Thinking about the relationship between himself and them, Cullen felt a tightness in his chest.

“It was the lady who wanted to see you,” Graham said leisurely. “The lady and Mr. Winford were one entity; the lady’s wishes were Mr. Winford’s wishes. So, what difference did it make whether it was the lady who wanted to see you or Mr. Winford?”

As they spoke, the person had already approached.

“Madam,” Graham slightly bowed his head and greeted Ophelia with a respectful attitude.

Ophelia nodded and looked at Cullen.

“Ophelia, what did you bring me here for?” Cullen said in a deep voice.

Ophelia lifted her eyelids and said, “Adalynn said that you personally told her that there was something unclear between you and me, and that you slept with her?”

Cullen quickly glanced at Adalynn and subtly looked at Bessie.

Bessie bit her lip and said aggrievedly, “Mr. Cullen, Ophelia insisted that it was I who had an affair with you. We did have some interactions before, but they were always innocent. How could I be burdened with such a reputation? I beg you to restore my innocence!”

Cullen’s thoughts raced, and he soon sighed and said, “Ophelia, I know you hated Bessie, but she was your sister after all. How could you wrongfully accuse her like this?”

“As for what Adalynn said, I admit that it indeed happened!” he uttered a shocking statement.

“But you should be very clear about what happened between us! It was you who kept entangling me, and that day it was you who seduced me. I was drunk, and in a moment of weakness, I couldn’t hold back. This is my fault…”

He turned to Adalynn with a guilty expression and said, “Adalynn, I promised I would never do it again. Thank you for being able to forgive me!”

Cullen was very good at acting; his words sounded so genuine that the onlookers around him glanced at him and then at Ophelia, their faces showing expressions of shock.

Lenora and Lucy were extremely angry.

“That was simply nonsense! As soon as the banquet ended, Ophelia left with Mr. Pruitt. How could anything have happened between her and you?!”

Cullen shook his head, unwilling to say anything more, as if he had already said everything that needed to be said. He grabbed Adalynn and was about to leave.

Bessie quietly sighed with relief and, when no one was paying attention, gave Ophelia a provocative smile.

Lenora was anxious. “Cousin-”

Cullen said that so many people around heard it, which really made people feel uneasy; this dirty water couldn’t be washed clean!

Ophelia, however, calmed her down, appearing completely composed and not at all anxious, simply watching Cullen’s departing figure.

Lenora was filled with confusion when Cullen suddenly stopped; his phone was ringing.

Ophelia gently curled her lips.
