The one who opened the door was Bessie! The aftereffects of that slap made Bessie change her expression when she saw Ophelia; she took a step back with a hint of fear.

“How did you get here?” Ophelia asked coldly.

Bessie suppressed her fear and smiled proudly. “Xander and I are getting engaged; of course, I’m going to live with him.”

As soon as the words were spoken, Xander came out. Upon seeing Ophelia, he pulled Bessie behind him, his tall figure standing protectively in front of her.

“What did you come here for?” he asked impatiently, his rebellious brows furrowing slightly, clearly showing his disdain.

Ophelia felt a pang in her heart and took a deep breath. “I came here to ask you—are you going to get engaged to Bessie?”

“What’s it to you? Does it have anything to do with you?” Xander’s hands were in his pockets; his jawline was sharp and cold.

“Did you know what her true nature was before you got engaged to her?”

“I certainly knew that Bessie was a sincere and kind girl; I understood her nature better than you did!”

Upon hearing this, Ophelia immediately let out a mocking laugh. Was Bessie sincere and kind? There was no funnier joke than this!

She coldly glanced at Bessie, who was hiding behind Xander. “Do you really know? What about the fact that she seduced someone else’s boyfriend? Did you know that she slept with someone else’s fiancé?”

Xander’s expression instantly darkened, but he said to Ophelia, “If you continue to slander my fiancée, don’t blame me for being rude to you!”

“Bessie has already confessed everything to me. She had been deceived by those men and slandered by others. I only felt sorry for her and would not hold any prejudice against her because of it!”

Were you deceived? Were you slandered? Ophelia stared at him in shock and suddenly turned to look at Bessie. Bessie curled her lips in pride as she met Ophelia’s gaze. Was she unprepared? She had already had a hacker delete all videos related to her, and now, no matter how much Ophelia said, there was no evidence; Xander wouldn’t believe her.

“Alright, if there’s nothing else, hurry up and leave. Bessie and I have things to do!” Xander directly urged them to leave.

Bessie smiled faintly, linking her arm with Xander’s, and softly said, “Ophelia, I know you have opinions about me, but I hope you could wish for Xander and me to be happy, could you?” That smile contained a strong sense of pride.

Ophelia stared at her and suddenly let out a cold laugh. “Sure, I wish you happiness—hoping that you can live up to my blessing!”

After she finished speaking, she no longer lingered and turned to leave. Bessie should have felt relieved, but somehow, her heart sank, and she inexplicably felt a sense of unease. Ophelia took a few steps back and looked at the closed door, her expression very cold. “Did she think that with Xander on her side, she would have no way to deal with her? Ha, that was simply asking for trouble!”
