Chapter 338
Helena was plump and kind, seeming a very easygoing elderly person. The Whitaker family was somewhat surprised by Grahamโs polite attitude. After all, Graham was Winfordโs right-hand man! The Whitaker family, with their power and ability, commanded respect from all the aristocratic family heads.
Graham thought, of course, it was for Mrs. Pruittโs sake.
โI wonder why Graham came over,โ Shaun asked gently.
Graham smiled faintly and stated his purpose: โI was sent by Mr. Winford to pick up something.โ
Shaun wondered, โPicking up things?โ
โYes. Mrs. Pruitt heard that Sir Whitaker was sick, so she brought a gift to visit him yesterday. However, she couldnโt get in but left the gift behind. Unfortunately, it was later heard that the Whitaker family didnโt appreciate these things and threw them in the trash.โ
As the words fell, Shaun and Helenaโs faces changed. Shaun remained calm, but Helenaโs eyes instantly welled up with tears. She became so excited she almost stood up and said, โLia came to visit her grandfather? Really? When?โ
Shaunโs stern gaze fell upon his daughter-in-law, Freya.
Freya respectfully said, โAt that time, I didnโt have time to entertain, so I didnโt let anyone in. I was also afraid it would hurt my parents if they found out, so I didnโt say anything.โ
She spoke carefully, but how could Shaun not guess what was going on? What no time to entertain; it was clear she had no intention of letting anyone step into the Whitaker villa! Since the miscarriage, Freya completely lost her affection for Ophelia, her once beloved niece. Shaun understood this, so he didnโt say anything.
He then asked Graham, โGraham, you just saidโฆโ
โOh. Mr. Winford heard that everything left by Mrs. Pruitt at the mansion was thrown away. He specifically sent me today to pick it up.โ
Graham smiled faintly. โAfter all, those things are not just ordinary items, and most importantly, they were all personally prepared by Mrs. Pruitt for the household. Each one carries a lot of thought, so how can we throw them in the trash? If the household doesnโt want them, weโll just pick them up ourselves.โ
Behind Freya, Isabelleโs face had already changed when Graham mentioned Ophelia earlier. At this moment, upon hearing the words, her gaze darkened. Graham actually came for those things!
Shaun frowned, โThrew it away?โ He looked at his daughter-in-law again. No matter what, Ophelia used to be his granddaughter; not allowing people to enter the house is one thing, but throwing away everything is another matter.
Freya lowered her eyes and explained without missing a single detail, โThere were too many things, and there was no place to put them when they were brought in. Besides, we didnโt need those things at home, so I had someone take care of them.โ
Graham remained calm and polite, โThen please ask Freya to recall where everything was taken, no matter which trash bin it was. I need to go back and search through them. Mr. Winford and Mrs. Pruitt are still waiting for me to report back.โ
Shaun was feeling a bit upset and said to Freya, โWho handled it? Get the things back quickly!โ
Freya had to call out a few servants who were responsible for handling things and asked, โWhere did you all throw away the things that I asked you to handle yesterday?โ
Several servants glanced at Isabelle subconsciously, stuttering and avoiding eye contact, unable to answer.
Freya frowned, โWhatโs going on?โ
