Chapter 86

Speak up! That little wretch, Ophelia, must have done something shameful. With so many people present, it would be best for her to confess and face the consequences!

Bessie, still consumed by her obsession with Winford, came to her senses upon hearing Elianaโ€™s words. Cautiously, she glanced at Winford. โ€œOphelia, sheโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong with her?โ€ Winford asked, his voice low and indifferent.

Bessie bit her lip, looking troubled. After a momentโ€™s hesitation, she seemed to have made up her mind. โ€œOphelia entered the room with a man, and they were doing that kind of thing!โ€

As soon as the words were spoken, the air fell silent.

โ€œOh?โ€ Winford raised his eyes, his emotions unreadable. An invisible pressure spread, making peopleโ€™s hearts tighten.

โ€œBessie, what are you talking about? Is this something you can joke about casually?!โ€ Samuel was the first to react. He carefully glanced at Winford and then glared at Bessie.

Bessie bit her lip, aggrieved. โ€œDad, I didnโ€™t make anything up; everything I said was trueโ€ฆโ€

โ€œBessie was not lying!โ€ Victoria stood up. Under immense pressure, she carefully glanced at Winford. โ€œMr. Winford, to be honest, we had already noticed some signs regarding Ophelia. Thatโ€™s why we specifically invited you here todayโ€”we didnโ€™t want you to continue being deceived by her!โ€

Hearing Victoriaโ€™s words, Declanโ€™s heart sank, and he could barely catch his breath. โ€œHow did the esteemed Mr. Winford suddenly arrive?โ€ he asked. Although he had sent a handwritten invitation, how could the distinguished Mr. Winford possibly show any favor to the Madison family? It turned out that it was actually his daughter-in-law who was behind it all! Based on his experience, how could he not see the oddity in this? How dare she take advantage of Mr. Winford? Did she think she was living too long, or did she think the Madison family was living too long?

โ€œThen letโ€™s go take a look,โ€ Winford said, his face showing little expression. A casual glance from his deep, unfathomable eyes sent a chill down Bessie and Victoriaโ€™s spines.

A group of people went upstairs, many bold guests hurrying to follow. Oh my goodness, it was Mr. Winford! That Opheliaโ€ฆ

Tsk tsk, marrying Mr. Winford and still having the audacity to fool around outsideโ€”she was definitely doomed!

Samuel hurried to catch up, his face grim. If he had known this would happen, he would have simply strangled that rebellious girl! It would have saved her from doing such audacious things and dragging the Greene family down with her!

Soon, a group of people stopped at the roomโ€™s door. Winfordโ€™s gaze was inscrutable as it fell on the tightly closed door, and he raised his hand to make a gesture. Suddenly, everyone fell silent, not daring to breathe loudly. The soundproofing in the lounge was good, but in the quiet, everyone still heard the faint sounds within.

Samuelโ€™s face had turned pale, and his heart felt like dead ashes. It was over! Bessie quietly curled her lips and raised her hand to push the door open.

โ€œEh? What were so many of you doing here?โ€ A soft and pleasant voice suddenly came from beside her. Bessie froze and abruptly turned her head.

She saw Ophelia, neatly dressed and with a clear mind, walking out from the next room! Bessieโ€™s pupils dilated. โ€œHowโ€ฆ how did you get here?!โ€ she exclaimed.

โ€œI wasnโ€™t here; where should I be?โ€ Ophelia smiled and retorted.

Suddenly, she saw that dazzling man, and in an instant, stars lit up in her eyes. โ€œHubby!โ€ she happily ran towards him, jumped into his arms, tilted her little face up, and asked in surprise, โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€

Winfordโ€™s usually expressionless face softened slightly. He held her shoulders, his dark eyes lowered as he looked at her and asked, โ€œHave you had enough fun?โ€

The three short words carried a specific meaning, accompanied by a hint of barely noticeable indulgence. Seeing her come out of the next room, he seemed not surprised at all.

Ophelia looked innocent, her eyes clear and bright, and said, โ€œIt seemed like not yet.โ€

Suddenly, she noticed a very obvious gaze. When she turned her head, she saw Eliana staring at her with red eyes, the jealousy in her gaze almost tangible. Ophelia squinted; it was yet another person captivated by her husband. Eliana must have been going crazy with jealousy now, right? Thatโ€™s right, Eliana was about to go crazy with jealousy!

When she heard her mother refer to โ€œMr. Winfordโ€ downstairs, she already felt that something was wrong, but she still refused to believe the truth.
