Chapter 89

The manโ€™s voice was deep and pleasant, but his words sent a chill to the bottom of oneโ€™s heart. As soon as he finished speaking, Winford took his little wifeโ€™s hand and turned to leave. Declanโ€™s figure hunched over, as if he had aged ten years in an instant. He turned his head and saw his daughter-in-law, who finally understood. Fear flickered across his face, and his gaze instantly turned icy.

On the way back to Sunset Vista, Ophelia looked at the man in confusion and asked, โ€œHusband, how did you come here?โ€ No matter how you think about it, the Madison family didnโ€™t have that much prestige, right? Winford did not hide the invitation from her; he showed it to her.

Ophelia finally understood what he meant by โ€œsurpriseโ€ when he left. She raised her eyebrows slightly and said, โ€œIt seems I didnโ€™t take revenge on the wrong person!โ€ When choosing someone, they selected Tom simply because he was already Erinโ€™s lover; it wasnโ€™t intended to target Victoria. It seemed that this was a retribution from the heavens!

In a good mood, I suddenly heard Graham in the passenger seat say, โ€œMadam, school is about to start, isnโ€™t it?โ€ Ophelia was taken aback for a moment, then she realized that she was still a college student! She calculated the days and realized that the summer vacation was about to end, and there were only a few days left until school started. โ€œI almost forgot about it; I had to pack my things then,โ€ she said instinctively.

โ€œPacking up, where are you going?โ€ Winford suddenly spoke up beside me. โ€œGo to the dormitoryโ€ฆ Ah!โ€ She spoke without thinking, and the next moment, she was suddenly yanked by a force and fell into his arms. โ€œHusbandโ€ฆ?โ€ She looked up in shock, meeting the manโ€™s cold, hard face and his icy black eyes. The strength on her wrist seemed to be crushing her bones; it hurt a bit, but when she moved, she couldnโ€™t break free.

โ€œDid you really not want to stay by my side?โ€ There was something restrained in his voice, and his thin lips pressed into a cold, straight line. Ophelia clearly felt that he was unhappy, even angry. โ€œI didnโ€™tโ€ฆโ€ she argued softly, feeling a bit wronged, โ€œThe school is so far from home. If I donโ€™t live on campus, I would have to spend four hours on the road every day.โ€

She carefully observed his expression and, without much hesitation, compromised, โ€œIf you donโ€™t want me to stay in the dorm, then I wonโ€™t stay, just donโ€™t be unhappyโ€ฆโ€ She clearly felt that the manโ€™s tense and hard muscles slowly relaxed, evidently starting to believe her words. Graham in front regretted it immensely; he wondered why he had to bring up that topic! He carefully interjected, โ€œMr. Winford, Ventura University was somewhat far from Sunset Vistaโ€ฆโ€

Ophelia felt that the pressure on her wrist had eased a bit. She sighed with relief, moved slightly, and said softly, โ€œHoney, it hurts.โ€ The voice revealed a sense of grievance. Winford let go. Seeing the delicate wrist that he had pinched until it turned red, his jaw tightened slightly.

The day before school started, Ophelia had not shown any signs of activity. Due to Winfordโ€™s reaction earlier, she had already given up the idea of continuing to live on campus. Although living at home made going to school a bit troublesome, she cared more about Winfordโ€™s feelings. As soon as they finished their meal, Winford started, โ€œIs school starting tomorrow?โ€ Thinking that he was just asking casually, Ophelia nodded. He said, โ€œGo pack your things.โ€

โ€œAh?โ€ She looked up in surprise, thinking that she had misheard. Winford stood up from the dining table; his tall and upright figure made her strain to lift her head in order to look up at him. He had no expression on his face and said in a light tone, โ€œFour hours is a bit long.โ€ Realizing what he meant, Opheliaโ€™s eyes lit up, and she suddenly stood up and hugged him, saying, โ€œHoney, you are so wonderful!โ€

Although she felt that not living on campus and the commute were a bit difficult, it still moved her that he was willing to compromise for her. Winford lowered his eyelashes and looked at the happy girl in his arms, remaining silent. Ophelia tidied up her things and left with a light step. There werenโ€™t many things, so she quickly finished packing up. She only intended to treat the dormitory as a temporary place to stay, and whenever she had time, she still tried to return to Sunset Vista, after all. Her big husband was here, and how could she feel at ease staying at school all the time?

The next day, it was time to go to school.
