Chapter 203
“Shh, keep your voice down! Please, I’m begging you, just wear it, okay?” Claire continued to persuade her with painstaking patience. “This will help you marry into the Munoz family smoothly. Once you get through this step, happiness is yours.”
In the end, Tina gave in. “Fine, I’ll wear it. You’re so annoying,” she grumbled. Then, with a mocking laugh, she added, “Mom, don’t be so superstitious. There’s no such thing as ghosts. And even if there were, I wouldn’t be scared. If he dares come back, I’ll dill him again. If he messes with me and I become a ghost, I’ll still make sure his soul gets utterly destroyed.”
So, the boy’s name was Quentin Cruz. Poor thing. He had run into a demon—and now that demon was on her way to the Munoz family, about to flaunt her power.
Vespera replied to Rebecca’s message. She was focused on typing, so she didn’t notice that Dominic had already opened his eyes and had been silently watching her for quite some time with a frown. “Vespera! Vespera!” Calvert nudged her from the side.
Vespera responded gently, “Yes, Calvert?”
Calvert said in a low voice, “Maybe… put your phone down and enjoy the view outside.”
Vespera paused. She was momentarily puzzled, but soon realized what he meant and quickly tucked her phone back into her bag. After a while, she sneaked a glance into the rearview mirror. Dominic’s expression darkened.
Ten minutes later, they arrived at the restaurant. Once they got out of the car, Vespera reminded Dominic once again of his date’s name and the table number they had reserved.
“I have the memory of a goldfish. M. Gildon, please remind me every three seconds. Without your help, I might get lost in the restaurant,” Dominic replied emotionlessly.
She waited until he had gone inside before following him a minute later. She chose a seat not too far from his. Dominic had already arrived at the table. Seated across from him was a woman in a nude-colored dress, and she emanated a gentle aura. She had long, silky hair that fell to her waist, and every movement she made was graceful and composed. With her refined smile and poised demeanor, she looked exactly like the kind of heiress raised in luxury. Fawn had good taste.
At that moment, Dominic was flipping through the menu. He politely asked about her preferences, his every gesture calm and elegant. Home Moreno’s eyes lit up with excitement, but she kept her expression composed, replying modestly. Once they finished ordering, she took the initiative to make conversation. Dominic responded with ease. He was respectful, warm, and courteous.
Roxanne felt lightheaded with excitement. Her father had arranged this blind date, and she had come reluctantly. She had met many handsome men with good backgrounds and decent manners, but most became unbearable within minutes of conversation. However, Dominic was different. Not only was he impossibly handsome, but he also carried himself with a quiet nobility. His words were intelligent, his tone gentle, his every move refined to perfection—like something out of a dream. She liked him a lot. She felt like she already loved him. She even sneaked a photo of him when he wasn’t looking, planning to show it off to her friends later.
Meanwhile, Vespera had ordered quite a bit of food for herself. She had barely eaten at lunch, too nervous about possibly being summoned by Samuel. But now that the worst had passed and nothing could shock her anymore, she figured she might as well eat. She ate slowly, enjoying her food. Every now and then, she would glance over in Dominic’s direction. Everything seemed to be going smoothly.
Her phone buzzed again. It was another message from Rebecca. They had arrived at the Munoz residence and had already gone off on another round of chaotic rambling with Luke. Helierra texted, “I swear Luke is being threatened. That Junatle might actually kill him one day if she uses it again.”
Vespera couldn’t even be bothered to comment. Threatened, kidnapped, killed—whatever it was, she’d sooner pity a stray dog. She continued eating while replying to texts. She couldn’t care less about the role of “advisor” that had been suddenly thrown at her. Dominic glanced over at her. She was sitting there happily twirling pasta with her fork, phone in one hand, typing away with lightning speed. Her mouth, hands, and eyes were busy. She was completely absorbed in her own little world, as if he didn’t exist. He let out a silent sigh.
Chapter 202
“Mr. Beid, there’s an auto exhibit this Saturday. I rate catchuship through her fingers. If you’re free, would you like to go together?” Roxanne took the initiative to ask him out. She wasn’t about to let this…
