Chapter 218

Miranda informed Claire that she had to head east to resolve the issue. After finding Quentin’s remains and adding an amulet to them, she had to bring them to the exact location where he died and burn them. The problem had to be resolved quickly, within the next two days. If Claire and Tina missed this opportunity, no one could handle the malicious spirit.

As soon as Claire heard the word “east,” her expression changed. Ashford was to the east of Halewick. Clair’s expression confirmed that Tina’s drunken ramblings weren’t nonsense. Indeed, she had hidden the remains in Ashford.

Vespera nodded. “As long as Tina shows up, everything will go accordingly.” Their initial plan was to seek out the young woman, Fiest, so they could convince her to join them and take Tina down. It was fine if the young woman was afraid and unwilling to help; Rebecca and Vespera would ask her to suggest a few places similar to what Tina described. That way, they could avoid as many detours as possible.

To start, Claire would bring Tina to Ashford, and they would head straight to where they had buried Quentin’s body and dig up his remains. Rebecca and Vespera would follow behind and secretly take photos and videos. Once they had proof, they would make a police report immediately and capture Tina on the spot.

To prevent the police from teaming up with the Sowles, Vespera and Rebecca planned to upload everything online immediately to expose Tina’s evildoings to the public. That way, the Sowles would have no way of denying it. If Tina could still get away with the murder, it would prove that the capitalists ruled the world, and Rebecca and Vespera would never… (sentence incomplete in original text).

While both plans sounded solid, no one knew how things would eventually unfold. Vespera and Rebecca were mentally prepared for trouble. After the discussion, they left the hotel room to go for lunch.

Vespera couldn’t help but check Dominic’s location. Doing that was like walking alone at night. The more one looked back, the more uneasy one became. In the end, Vespera decided to leave her phone behind in the room. After all, she still had her burner phone, so she could leave the main device in the room.

Vespa, Rebecca, and Byron left the room. Halfway through the corridor, Rebecca suddenly stopped and clutched at her stomach, looking uncomfortable. “My stomach hurts. It’s probably from the watermelon at the rest stop. Why don’t you two head for the restaurant first? I’ll go.” Rebecca dashed back in the direction of their room.

Vespera yelled in concern, “Will you be alright? Shall I buy some medicine for you?” Rebecca waved it off. “No need.”

Byron said, “My sister’s a tough cookie. We can just ignore her, right, Vespera?” “Alright.” Vespera and Byron headed for the restaurant first. After finding their seats, Vespera let Byron order a few dishes. Then, she ordered some medicine online and requested that it be delivered to the hotel front desk.

“Vespera, have some water.” Byron brought the water to her lips. “Thanks,” Vespera took the glass from him.

Three figures entered the restaurant and sat behind her. They were somewhat close to her, but she failed to notice them. Dominie stared at Byron nonchalantly. Initially, Calvert wanted to get up and greet Vespera, but Gerard held his arm tightly. He almost considered tying Calvert up with some rope. But Calvert was rather strong; he might even end up flinging Gerard and the rope aside.

Calvert scowled. Why must he pretend he hadn’t seen Vespera? It was better to be honest. Gerard was mentally exhausted. Not only was he suffering, but he had to put up with an irritated Dominie and a silly Calvert.

“Byron, have you finished ordering?” Vespera set her phone down and noticed Byron was still looking through the menu. Byron remarked, “Vespera, it’s really expensive here. Shall we go out and eat instead?”

Byron usually relied on his parents and Rebecca for pocket money, so the prices at the hotel restaurant were somewhat daunting to him. Vespera chuckled at Byron’s innocence. She did as Rebecca would and patted him on the head. “You’re so silly! I’m not asking you to pay for anything; just order whatever you want to eat since you’re still growing. I’d be heartbroken to know you haven’t had enough to eat.” Byron’s cheeks went red, and he looked down at the menu again. From time to time, he would lean over to Vespera and ask if he could order this and that dish. Vespera was slightly distracted. She entertained Byron the way she would a child.

Meanwhile, the group behind her was deathly silent. Dominic looked displeased. Did Vespera really like Byron, an immature young man who was too innocent for his own good? Calvert let out a soft sigh. “He’s quite cute and doesn’t seem very feminine. He also looks quite… (sentence incomplete in original text).”

Grand leaned forward and added, saying, “Of course. Look at how sweet he is, talking…” Vespera: He really does make her happy… Who doesn’t like a clingy…

Speechless, Dominic picked up the menu and smacked it on Gerard’s head. “Place your order.” At that moment, Vespera was lost in her thoughts. Dominic’s sharp order behind her almost made her jump out of her seat. While Vespera was contemplating whether to turn around, she heard Toxanne greeting Dominic in a pleasant voice. “Mr. Beld…”
