Listen to this chapter:

“There’s no need for another discussion. He has already signed the divorce papers. If you want to commise someone, convince him to complete the remaining steps. From now on, I will have nothing more to do with him and the Muner family.” Vespera stated duly.

It felt as though she was discussing someone else’s situation, not her own ill-fated marriage in which she had invested so much effort. She accepted that she had lost the gamble. She held no grudges, but the memory of the pain would linger even after the wound healed.

Henry was silent on the other end of the line for a while. “Come over. Regardless of what you’ve decided internally, this isn’t something that can be resolved just because you’ve made up your mind.”

“In a marriage, if one person doesn’t cooperate, things won’t proceed smoothly. Ultimately, both parties must sit down and talk face-to-face. Don’t you agree?”

Vespera remained silent.

Henry added, “Just have a meal. It won’t cause any trouble. Do me a favor.”

Vespera considered it carefully. Finally, she agreed, “Alright.”

She didn’t agree because she was trying to save Henry’s reputation. By having left the Eclipse Group and planning to divorce his son, she was sure she wouldn’t have any future dealings with the Mamoz family. Their status meant nothing to her.

Her agreement stemmed from the hope that Jessica might talk business with him and induce him to stop bothering Luke unnecessarily. When Vespera was on the call, Raymond, who was nearby, overheard the conversation.

He walked over with concern and cautioned her, saying, “What if they deceive you again like last time and something bad happens? You need to be cautious.”

“You’re right,” Vespera acknowledged.

Although she didn’t believe Henry would stoop so low, past experiences with Felicia reminded her to be vigilant. “Hire some bodyguards for protection tomorrow. Don’t worry.”

The following afternoon, around 4:00 pm, Vespera dressed meticulously and, flanked by two hired professional bodyguards, made her way to the Munoz family home. Although her leg had been functioning normally since the previous day, she continued to feign injury by using a wheelchair. This way, in the event of any danger, the wheelchair could serve as a distraction, allowing her a moment to get up and escape if her bodyguards were unable to manage the situation.

Meanwhile, at home, Raymond milled over the situation repeatedly before deciding to call Gerard. He asked Gerard to find an opportunity to inform Dominic that Vespera had gone to the Munoz family residence. She had been staying with them to recover in peace away from disturbances.

Now that she was venturing out and potentially facing danger, it seemed appropriate to let Dominic know. However, due to the events of the previous evening, Raymond felt somewhat awkward about calling Dominic directly.

Although Gerard didn’t quite understand why he was being used as a go-between, he respected Raymond as his senior and didn’t question it. He agreed and left the assistant’s office to head to the president’s office.

At that moment, Dominic was standing by the window, engaged in a phone conversation. Whatever the person on the other end was saying made him laugh.

When he heard a knock at the door, he moved the phone away from his ear and said, “Come in.”

When Gerard entered the office, he didn’t realize Dominic was on a call. Excitedly, he announced, “Mr. Reid, Ms. Gilden has gone to the Manos family residence.”

Dominic’s eyes barely registered a reaction as he replied, “If she wants to go, let her. Why are you telling me this?”

Gerard hesitated, thinking to himself, I thought you’d be worried too. But he realized Dominic had no reason to be concerned; it was Vespera’s personal affair.

“Detour,” Dominic instructed, waving him away.

Gerard left the office feeling downcast.

Dominic resumed his phone conversation, and a jovial male voice leased, “Who is Ms. Gudon? A new hire? She sounds like a woman. You seem to hold her in high regard.” Dominic responded dryly, “Just a secretary!”

After exchanging a few more words, he ended the call. Standing by the window for a moment, he then took out his phone to make another call. He dispatched his most trusted bodyguards to the area around the Munoz family residence to discreetly keep an eye on and protect her. She was such a troublesome woman.

Vespera arrived at the Munoz residence.
