“Why did he show up at your place so late at night?” Lake asked her.

Vespera responded with assurance. “Just because he came to my house, does that mean I was involved with him? Do you have any proof? You don’t! But I do!”

“There’s a security camera by my front door. From when he dropped me off to when he left, it was under a minute! So, tell me, what could we possibly have done in that short—”

Before he could further tarnish her reputation, she struck back decisively. “Not only can I prove my innocence, but I can also reveal your affair with Tina. I have a recording on my phone.”

“Your mistress called me from your phone while you were both in bed, and it’s a perfect live recording! Would you like me to play it for everyone to hear?”

As she said this, she began searching through her phone.

Luke’s expression changed suddenly as he snatched her phone. “She did that on her own. It was all a take!”

Vespera raised an eyebrow. “Is that so? You gave her your phone, and she set up a moaning scene for me to overhear? Did she also get someone to play the man’s role?”

“Do you think I’d be so easily fooled, or that your father would be, or do you think the judge will buy that story when we face the divorce proceedings?”

Upon learning of her plans to file a lawsuit and reveal this embarrassing piece of evidence in court, Henry was nearly overwhelmed with shock. It felt like the Manor and Sowle families were being laid bare for everyone to witness.

“Divorce her! Divorce her right away! Go and get the divorce papers with her tomorrow!”

He had underestimated Vespera, assuming she would be lenient and that offering her favorable terms would resolve matters quietly. However, it now seemed she wouldn’t rest until she had caused substantial harm to the Munoz family.

Luke remained quiet. His eyes locked on Vespera as though attempting to see right through her.

Finally, he spoke with a casual tone, “Feel free to sue. Use all the tricks at your disposal. I’ll be by your side through the whole process.” With those words, he pulled out a chair and sat down. Vespera felt exhausted.

Henry shouted angrily, “What lawsuit? Haven’t you been humiliated enough already? She doesn’t care for you anymore. It’s best to separate on good terms and end this clearly!”

Vespera tried to persuade him, saying, “Luke, if you’re certain about the divorce, I’ll delete the recording and all my evidence once the procedures are done.”

“Are you both finished?” Luke asked, picking up his spoon. “Let’s eat first.”

Vespera resisted the urge to hurl a cup at him and said to Henry, “Please try to convince him again. We were a couple once, and I don’t want this to end in chaos.” After that, she signaled the two bodyguards to wheel her away. Luke remained indifferent; Vespera couldn’t be bothered to give him any more attention.

Our bodyguard headed off to retrieve the car, leaving the other to walk with her. This made her feel slightly more at ease.

Out of nowhere, a group of individuals appeared from the direction of the door. Their uniforms indicated they were security personnel for the Munoz family. They swiftly overpowered the bodyguard standing next to Vespera.

“What are you doing!” Vespera’s mind screamed in alarm.

Suddenly, a shadow loomed over her. Before she had a chance to react and flee, she was scooped up and held firmly in someone’s arms. When she glanced up, she saw Lake’s cold, dangerously attractive face staring back at her. His eyes seemed to conceal something sinister.

Vespera’s heart raced, and she began to struggle. “Let me go! What are you planning to do?”

Luke paid no attention to her protests and carried her to his car. He placed her in the passenger seat from the driver’s side, locked the door, pressed the gas pedal, and sped away. As they exited through the iron gate, they passed a car entering from outside.
