Chapter 121
They were told the visiting client’s name was Porter, and he was very family-oriented, which was why he was being brought to the Weitsaller.
This was Anastasia’s first time dealing with clients alongside Cassian, so she was feeling pretty nervous.
Soon they spotted Mr. and Mrs. Potter.
Honestly, it was way different than she’d expected – Mr. Potter looked super young with this refined, scholarly vibe. She’d pictured these big executives as older, balding dudes, but this guy was actually pretty young. Maybe only a few years older than Cassian.
When Cassian noticed Anastasia checking the guy out for a moment, his jaw tightened slightly. Cassian cleared his throat and casually slipped his arm around Anastasia’s waist, pulling her closer. That snapped her back to reality, and she realized she’d been staring. Her cheeks went pink as she quickly smiled politely.
“Mr. Potter, Mrs. Potter, welcome to New York,” Cassian said in his usual deep, controlled voice.
Mr. Potter grinned and stuck out his hand. “Mr. Rhodes, I’ve heard amazing things about you. Really excited we finally get to work together.”
Then his eyes shifted to Anastasia, and they definitely perked up for a second before he got himself together. He said smoothly, “This must be the beautiful Mrs. Rhodes! Wow, what incredible elegance – you’re one lucky guy, Mr. Rhodes!”
Anastasia nodded gracefully. “You’re way too kind, Mr. Potter. We’re so happy to have you both here.”
When Mr. Potter reached out his hand, Anastasia politely shook it. Suddenly Anastasia’s brow furrowed – she wasn’t sure if she was imagining things, but it felt like Mr. Potter had traced his finger across her palm during the handshake. Ew, gross. She immediately got the creeps.
Mrs. Potter stepped up and warmly took Anastasia’s hand. “Mrs. Rhodes, I’m so grateful you’ll be taking care of me while we’re here.”
Feeling Mrs. Potter’s genuine warmth, Anastasia relaxed a bit. “Oh please, don’t even mention it. I’m excited to hang out.”
After the meet-and-greet, Cassian had their driver grab the luggage, and they all headed to the resort. They’d booked rooms at this luxury spa resort that had everything – amazing entertainment, the whole nine yards.
During the ride, Mr. Potter and Cassian sat up front talking shop, while Anastasia and Mrs. Potter chatted in the back.
“So what do you like to do for fun, Mrs. Rhodes? Your skin is absolutely insane – so gorgeous and flawless. I’m sitting right next to you and can’t see a single pore!” Mrs. Potter said with genuine enthusiasm.
It wasn’t just small talk either – Anastasia really did have that perfect porcelain complexion that made everyone jealous.
“Oh my god, you’re so sweet! I love reading and doing flower arrangements when I have time,” Anastasia replied warmly. “What about you? Any hobbies?”
Mrs. Potter seemed really genuine and chatty. She wasn’t drop-dead gorgeous or anything, pretty average looking actually, but she had this really pleasant energy.
“I’m totally obsessed with traveling! I’m so pumped to be here with my husband – it’s like a mini vacation for me too,” Mrs. Potter said, practically glowing with excitement.
Mrs. Potter was seriously impressed by how chill Anastasia was. Despite being married to someone as powerful as Cassian Rhodes, she wasn’t stuck up at all.
Anastasia nodded enthusiastically. “I’d love to show you around! We have some absolutely gorgeous spots here...”
Mrs. Potter’s face lit up. “That sounds amazing! Maybe you can share some skincare secrets with me–”
Anastasia laughed. “Honestly, I just do basic morning and night routines, and I’m super paranoid about sunscreen...”
They chatted the entire ride and really hit it off.
At the hotel, Cassian and Mr. Potter went off to some conference room to keep talking business, while Anastasia helped Mrs. Potter get settled. Mrs. Potter was totally in love with the room setup and grabbed Anastasia’s hand. “Mrs. Rhodes, seriously, thank you so much for everything!”
Anastasia waved her off. “Stop! Don’t even worry about it. Just let me know if you need anything at all.”
That afternoon, Anastasia took Mrs. Potter to check out the downtown art district and this cute little tea café.
They had an absolute blast together, and Mrs. Potter couldn’t stop gushing about how thoughtful and sweet Anastasia was.
