Chapter 124
After holding each other for a moment, Cassian released her and took her hand to keep walking. “Mr. and Mrs. Potter have more will pla tomorrow. You want to hang out with her again?”
Anastasia nodded. “Yeah, I’ve already got it figured out. I’m taking her to this flower field outside the city and some local artisan workshop—she should love it.” No matter what, she had to be a good hostess.
Cassian smiled slightly. “You’re always so thoughtful. You’re amazing.”
Anastasia winked playfully. “Well duh, being Mrs. Rhodes isn’t just for show.”
Cassian laughed and couldn’t resist pinching her nose. “Such a smartass.”
As the night got later, they headed back to their hotel suite. Anastasia had just changed into her pajamas when her phone buzzed with a text.
She looked and saw it was from her bestie Tamia: “How’s the romantic getaway with Mr. Rhodes going?”
Anastasia texted back with a smile: “It’s not a romantic getaway—we’re entertaining clients.”
Tamia quickly replied: “That doesn’t stop you two from being cute together! Oh, there’s a college reunion this Friday night. You coming?”
A lot of their classmates worked in New York, and while they used to get together regularly, everyone was so busy now that they rarely saw each other.
Anastasia thought about it. “If you’re going, then sure.”
Cassian walked over and wrapped his arms around her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. “Who’s making you smile like that?”
Anastasia glanced at him. “It’s Tamia. She says there’s a class reunion on Friday.”
Cassian kissed her cheek. “You should go if you want to. It’ll be good to catch up with friends. Need me to arrange anything?” Rhodes Global owned tons of high-end hotels and private clubs that would be perfect for gatherings.
“Nah, our class president probably already picked a place,” Anastasia said with a laugh. She didn’t want to be too flashy about things. Actually, except for Tamia, none of her classmates knew she was married. Anastasia preferred keeping her private life private.
“Sounds good. Just let me know if you need anything,” Cassian said.
Anastasia felt that familiar warmth and nodded. She quickly texted Tamia back.
Tamia sent back a winking emoji: “Perfect! We’ll go together. Don’t want to interrupt you and Mr. Rhodes being all lovey-dovey.”
Anastasia rolled her eyes and laughed.
The next morning, everyone met up in the lobby again. The resort they were staying at was massive—golf course, stables, pools, hot springs, gardens, plus tons of other entertainment options. You could stay there for weeks and never get bored.
Cassian and Mr. Porter went off to play golf while Anastasia and Mrs. Potter found a shady area to walk. Mrs. Potter glanced at Anastasia and suddenly said, “Anastasia, what perfume are you wearing? It smells really great.”
Anastasia paused, then pulled a bottle from her purse and handed it over. “It’s not a big brand—just this indie label I really love; it's a clean scent. This bottle’s never been opened, so if you like it, please take it.”
Anastasia wasn’t sure why Mrs. Potter was suddenly bringing this up, but she figured she’d just go with the flow.
