Chapter 131

She looked at Mrs. Potter. “What’s your plan now?”

They’d really connected, and honestly, Anastasia genuinely liked Mrs. Potter.

Mrs. Potter smiled, looking relieved. “If I can help Watson Group land this deal, I’m planning to take my kids and move back with my parents. Fresh start.”

Her dad had mentioned this project before; it was a huge opportunity that tons of companies were fighting for. If she could secure this contract, going home would be even easier. Dad had always adored her, so her future would definitely be brighter.

She paused. “I actually need to thank you two for giving me the push to finally end this marriage.”

Mrs. Potter had been hesitating forever, overthinking everything, which is why she’d put up with the abuse for so long.

Cassian kept his arm around Anastasia’s shoulders. “Absolutely. I’ll have Philips help you through the whole divorce process.”

“Thank you both so much. Next time you see me, just call me Grace,” Mrs. Potter said with genuine relief.

Anastasia nodded. She was really happy for Mrs. Potter—she was still young enough to chase her dreams.

Soon, Mrs. Potter called her father and filled him in on everything. Without hesitation, he sent people to pick her up and even came personally to negotiate with Cassian, showing serious commitment.

After reviewing everything, Cassian realized Watson Group was actually a much better fit anyway. Sometimes things work out for the best.

The collaboration went smoothly. Anastasia finally felt less guilty about the whole situation. If the deal had fallen through because of her, she would’ve felt terrible. This partnership was really important for Rhodes Global too.

With everything settled, they headed home. The next day, Anastasia went back to work as usual. As soon as she sat down at her desk, Narissa walked over with this nasty look on her face.

“Ana, where’d you disappear to this weekend?”

Anastasia glanced at her coolly, knowing Narissa was definitely up to no good. They’d worked together long enough for Anastasia to know exactly what kind of person Narissa was.

“Is there something work-related you need, Narissa? My weekend plans don’t really affect the job, do they?”

Anastasia wasn’t about to feed the office gossip mill.

Narissa had expected this response and continued casually, “Of course not, just curious. Thought I might’ve seen you at that resort outside the city this weekend. Might’ve been mistaken though.”

Narissa couldn’t believe her luck. She’d spotted Anastasia there, and even more shocking—she’d seen her with Mr. Rhodes himself. They’d looked like they were mentioning to rent. When she’d first seen them, Narissa’s jaw had hit the floor. She figured she’d stumbled onto Anastasia’s big secret.

But mostly, Narissa was consumed with jealousy. That was the untouchable Mr. Rhodes! When she’d first started at Rhodes Global, she’d seen Cassian at the company anniversary party and had fallen hard. Narissa had tried everything to get his attention, but nothing worked. She’d even wondered if he was gay or had some other issue with women.

And now here was Anastasia, apparently with Cassian Rhodes himself. Narissa was pissed and bitter. If she couldn’t have him, then Anastasia sure as hell shouldn’t either.
